Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ramesh Dahal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ramesh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first knew at the age of sixteen. I wanted a career that was different from others, and over time this evolved into a desire to open a different type of restaurant.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I first went to culinary school in Nepal, my home country, and beginning from there worked in many types of restaurant, from fast food to fine dining, US military kitchens, cruise ships, and La Place and the Angus Barn, effectively all kinds of kitchens.
I now run Momo’s Master. Here, our focus is firstly on the customer, the community, and the people of this town. When people walk into the restaurant, they need to feel at home, and when they leave they need to be happy. It is a restaurant, but it is home. We specialize in Nepali dumplings and other Himalayan dishes, in a menu that covers kids, to the elderly, to those with dietary restrictions. Our menu has something for everyone. We contribute to the community as well, such as donating food and hosting events with nonprofits.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to help people around the globe who need it. I chose the food industry because everyone has to eat, even if they are in a wheelchair or a hospital bed. Since food is the number one priority in life, this means we can help millions of people.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When people dine with us and they appreciate the quality of service that we provide, that is the most rewarding thing, more so than money.
