Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ralphy Vies. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ralphy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been drawn to creativity since I was a kid. Clothing and music were my first loves—music through singing with Highbridge Voices, and fashion through the way I treated every single day in high school like it was a runway. But the exact moment I knew I had to pursue this path fully came during a setback.
In college, I was trying out for the basketball team. I had the talent, but between skipping study hall and throwing wild parties, the coach decided to cut me. Walking home from the gym after hearing the news, I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders—like something I had worked for slipped right through my hands. But then, everything shifted.
On that same walk, I checked my email and saw a message from Keri Hilson, thanking me for the sweater we had sent her, with a picture attached. That moment hit me hard—it was like the universe reminding me where my true path was. Not long after, I found myself at Cam’ron house giving out clothing, and even inside a Teyana Taylor studio session, personally putting pieces in her hands.
Fast forward a few years, and my creative journey came full circle—my single made it onto radio stations like 105.1 and 93.3 The Beat, and even onto Revolt TV. That was the confirmation I needed. From that moment on, I knew it wasn’t just about experimenting with art and fashion anymore—it was time to take everything I was doing to another level.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a fashion designer and artist who believes clothing should be more than just fabric — it should tell a story. Through my brand, Nos Vies (which means “Our Lives” in French), I create garments that reflect life experiences and challenges, transforming personal journeys into wearable art. I’ve always felt that while every individual is different, what unites us all is life itself — the emotions, the struggles, and the victories we share. My work is about expressing that connection in a way that people can see and feel.
One of my proudest moments was being in New York City, riding the train, and seeing complete strangers wearing my pieces. That moment made me realize my vision was bigger than me — it was truly reaching people.
Music came into my life just as naturally. Growing up, my mom and grandmother were always singing around the house — something I found annoying at the time. But looking back, I see how much that environment shaped me, because here I am today, doing the very same thing. After being let go from my hospital job, I picked up a camera my sister had around the house and started exploring creativity. A neighbor noticed me with the camera and mentioned he had a studio upstairs, inviting me to come record. I went that very same day, and that first session changed everything for me. Music became another way for me to share emotions — my pain, my voice, my truth — in a way that others could connect with. A highlight of that journey was seeing my music video featured on Revolt TV, a platform I grew up respecting and admiring.
What sets me apart, both in fashion and music, is that I don’t just create for aesthetics — I create from life. My work is rooted in emotion, honesty, and human experience. I want people to see themselves in my clothes and hear themselves in my music. At the end of the day, Nos Vies is not just about me — it’s about all of us, and the lives we live.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ll never forget being in my college apartment with a few of my buddies when I told them I was going to get my favorite rapper, Cam’ron, into my clothing. Everyone laughed and told me it was impossible. But I didn’t see it that way.
I remember sitting on Twitter and seeing that Cam’ron had just tweeted — which meant he was online. I thought, “All I have to do is get his attention.” So I started tweeting at him, nonstop, probably about 100 times. About 30 minutes later, he finally DMed me: “Hit my email.”
That alone was a breakthrough, but the story didn’t stop there. He told me to pull up during All-Star Weekend when he’d be home in Jersey. At the time, I was upstate in Rochester with little to no money. I asked a friend to drive me to the bus station, even though I didn’t even have enough for a ticket. I just went on faith.
As I stood in line at the station, the bus driver suddenly walked up to me and said, “Hey, what are you doing? Hurry up, get on — we’re leaving!” He never once asked me for a ticket. That moment showed me something I carry with me to this day: if you do your part and move with faith, God will always meet you halfway and handle the rest.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is simple: to prove that it’s possible. A friend once told me, “People are dying where they grew up.” That line has stayed with me and fueled my focus on finding a way out — somewhere, somehow.
I know the talents I’ve been given are my way forward, and I use them to show others that they can do the same. Where I’m from, dreams don’t usually come true, but I want people to see that what they already have — their gifts, their passions, their grind — can be used for the greater good.
Coming from the birthplace of hip hop, I feel a responsibility to represent the culture in its truest form: the grit, the hardship, the resilience, and the beauty that comes from it all. If my journey shows anything, it’s that you don’t have to be defined by where you started — you can turn it into the foundation for something bigger.
