Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ralph Russell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ralph, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you manage your own social media?
I manage my own social media pages. I use social media as a platform to market my business and promote myself as an entrepreneur. I also use it as a tool to network with different creatives and develop relationships overtime. I believe the use of social media is important because it helps individuals in the music industry brand themselves and create an image that fans can get familiar with.

Ralph, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a professional DJ, music producer and manager. I specialize in providing music for different entertainment venues, as well as booking private/corporate gigs. I also produce beats and manage independent artists who are creating a buzz in the music industry. My professionalism, musician background and knowledge of the music business sets me apart from others. I earned a bachelor’s degree in music industry from Florida A&M University, which taught me the importance of knowing different parts of the music business and how to conduct myself in a business environment. In addition, I have 12+ years of professional DJ experience. I’ve done events for different school events, weddings, corporate events, and more. Running my own business showed me how to be a professional and efficient entrepreneur.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
One of my favorite marketing sales stories was when I created the campaign for my producer album “League of My Own 2”. The odds were stacked against me because I’ve always dreamed of having a billboard with my face on it in my hometown, but many people told me that investing in a billboard would be difficult. A month before the release of the album, I decided I wanted to get a billboard downtown in the city of Atlanta to promote the release and attract attention from local pedestrians who see the billboard throughout the day. I saved up enough money to get a digital billboard and created the design that would be shown to thousands of people. When the billboard went live, I received lots of positive feedback. It drove alot of traffic to my artist page and in result, it brought me many nee fans. Investing in the billboard was one of the best marketing decisions I ever made because it helped the campaign of my album and helped make a big difference in the streaming numbers.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think that my personality helped build my reputation within the music market. I am a fun, outgoing person that carries myself with professionalism. I conduct great business with everyone and I maintain good relationships with the people I’ve done busienss with in the past. Also, I am approachable when someone comes to me with a need for advice or assistance with an issue. I am fortunate to have many supporters that think highly of me because I’ve treated them with respect and kindness.
