Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raissa Oliveira Da Silva. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raissa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
It’s interesting, when life shows you in the many ways that it does; that you are meant for something. How many times will it take for you to take that leap?
I was starting to begin I wouldn’t. You see, art didn’t just begin to be a passion of mine. It’s been something I’ve been practicing my entire life. When I won awards and recognition in my education, I saw it as an impossible feat. Despite seeing with my own eyes that I have these skills, I didn’t allow myself to believe I could ever be successful being an artist. Not having much growing up made me believe that working hard was the way out. I began working creative jobs in various marketing roles. But ultimately I felt like I made no impact in this work. No amount of praise felt as rewarding as painting, something that was both my comfort, and drive. Despite this, I still didn’t listen to my intuition. With rewards stacking up from creating art after work, the universe was screaming for me to take a leap. This goes back to what I said in the beginning – It turns out, there is indeed a point where you and the universe align. Now I find myself leaning in to change, and healing my soul by doing something I love – art. Is it easy? No, but it’s fulfilling. It’s freedom. It’s life.

Raissa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Brazilian born artist living in the Bronx New York. Discovering my artistic talent at a young age, I started showcasing at just 14 years old. Continuing my education, at the fashion institute of technology I worked on mastering techniques of the renaissance masters that allowed me to create pieces recognized and showcased in the National Arts Club, the International Gallery of Gemluc art in Monaco, the Hecksher Museum, Red Dot Miami, Art Expo NYC, and garnering awards and recognitions along the way.
As an oil painter, I create images that meet realism and surrealism. Leaving a space to connect reality and thoughts. Currently I focus on telling stories of how we all live the human experience. My goal is to open a door for the viewer, so they can see themselves authentically.
I currently work from my home studio and am focusing on creating and showcasing works globally.
My works are for sale.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
An important mission in my creative journey has been about healing. I want to share the knowledge I learn and obtain to help others in their own journey.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the freedom to express yourself outwardly. I create it, I release it, but it will always be an extension of myself. There is a full circle moment that happens at one point or another and those intimate thoughts feel very valuable to me.
