Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rainey Rivera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rainey, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of my most meaningful projects I have worked on was a recent one. I worked on a photoshoot with the amazing photographer TDN Photography for one of her clients who wanted to do a shoot before her birthday. The day of one of the things that stood out to me when I met our model was she had mentioned wanting to feel better about herself and feel pretty. I am such an advocate about self love and I told her that she was already beautiful without glam but I was going to make sure to make her feel as beautiful as she already was. After each look I made sure to have her look and see if there was anything that she wanted to change, but she loved everything. The best part of the photoshoot was the huge genuine smile she gave and you could feel her embrace it though each and every look.
This is so meaningful because when I started doing makeup my main goal was to make sure everyone felt beautiful before and after the makeup application. I love being able to hype everyone up and boost their confidence. Doing makeup is not about covering up “flaws” people have but enhancing their natural beauty and bumping it up to match whatever occasion.

Rainey, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Rainey and I am a licensed esthetician who specializes in waxing and makeup. I have been licensed now for over 9 years. I have been doing makeup before I went to beauty school but it was also the reason I wanted to get into esthetics. I wanted to find a way to include more into my makeup services and I decided to learn about skincare. While in school I also learned waxing hair removal and found my passion for that as well. Once I got licensed I was able to work as a waxer and still continue doing makeup with a bonus in knowing about skincare which was a bonus for both. My main thing I want all my clients to feel after we are done with any service is feeling even more beautiful, powerful and ready to take over the world. I genuinely try my hardest to make everyone comfortable in their own skin.
Some of my most proud moments have been working on various photoshoots that were published in magazines and some even landed covers! Being able to have my work showcase like this is something I feel so proud of because it shows me and everyone involved that our hard work pays off by being able to have so many people see it.
One thing I want everyone to know about me and my brand is that I am here to make everyone feel amazing about themselves. I love being able to spread whatever knowledge I can offer whether its questions about aftercare, or what kind of makeup products I would recommend for certain occasions.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
As corny as it may sound the most rewarding aspect is being able to showcase my art at the same time as making people feel good about themselves. Doing makeup is such an amazing way to show off my art on all different kinds of canvasses. Every face is unique to its owner and I love it. I can do similar looks on people and everyones will look unique in its own ways.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My overall goal will be to be able to eventually fully work for myself. I am blessed to have my job as a waxer be my main source of income now but I am also able to work on my off time doing makeup. I have times where I doubt myself in my makeup skills but am able to remind myself that if I wasn’t passionate I wouldn’t still be doing makeup. I also have so many returning clients who constantly look to book me because they love the looks I come up for them.
I am also in school now studying business marketing which is something I hope to incorporate into my own business in the future. Throwing in school into my busy schedule sometimes drains my creative juices but my clients help keep me going by trusting me to provide them with amazing makeup.
