We recently connected with Rahysa Vargas and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rahysa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
I initially created Ms. Esquire with the goal of empowering other women attorneys to collaborate, scale their business, create a safe space to discuss issues we face in our industry and to empower one another. Today the Facebook group has over 10,000 women attorneys and continues to grow. From there in 2021, we launched Ms. Esquire networking chapters which would expand our community of women attorneys to other business professionals. This unique group started initially with two chapters one in Miami and one in Fort Lauderdale, each category exclusive with the goal of helping business professionals not just attorneys grow and scale their business, meet long lasting referral partners and learn some of the best business tips from our speakers that we bring in monthly. Today the group has led to Millions of dollars in closed business and has now expanded to 8 in person chapters 2 in Miami, 2 in fort Lauderdale, Boca, West Broward, West Palm and Orlando. Additionally, at the heart of Ms. Esquire we value giving back to the community every year we partner up with organizations like Chapman Partnership, Children’s Harbor catering to Broward counties foster care children and this year with the YMCA in Fort Lauderdale to bring a suicide prevention event that will be free to the public.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born in Bogota Colombia and came to this country at a young age. My Parents brought us to the US like most immigrant parents for better opportunities, I always believed in the American dream because I watched my parents work so hard so that we could have opportunities they never did. So from a young age I knew I wanted to be an attorney.
Shortly after I began practicing around 2015, I created Ms. Esquire to fill a need I saw as a new attorney. I felt there was a need in our profession for women mentors, women colleagues, women partners, women equity partners at large firms. So Ms. Esquire was born, an online networking platform and community, that created a safe space on facebook where women in our profession could get to get together and help one another push the needle forward. Ms. Esquire filled a void that was needed and it rapidly grew becoming one of the largest groups of its kind, today it has attorneys throughout the entire United States and in other countries.
Ms. Esquire was also instrumental in my career path, I spent the first 7 years of my career litigating for big corporate America and then decided to go off on my own and open a full service Real estate law office and Personal injury practice. I love working with foreign investors and of course seeing first time home buyers by a piece of the American dream along with help the community that has been injured. Being a women entrepreneur and women owned law firms has its fair share of challenges but the truth is I wouldn’t have it any other way. I hope long after I’m gone, I paved the way for other women to do the same.
Ms. Esquire Network has also now become my second full time business. The group which initially started with 2 chapters has grown to 8 chapters spanning from Miami to Orlando. The community of like minded women and men entrepreneurs and business decisions makers come together monthly to learn and grow together in business strategies, marketing and self development and to give back to the community.
The heart of our business has always been the community, not only our clients but also how we can serve others. Each year our goal both for Ms. Esquire and my law firm is how can we do more for underserved, under represented and under privilege. I’m proud that while i’m surrounded by some of the smartest people in the room who are passionate about scaling their business they are also a community that is equally willing to serve others.
What I’m most proud of in my life however is raising three boys all of which are still under four but that I hope will one day believe in the power of hard work and that the American Dream is still possible and I’m grateful for my incredible Husband who is the best Dad to our kids and the reason I get to do all that I do.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The three best sources of new clients has been 1) the Ms. Esquire networking group because we are constantly trying to refer one another new clients and/or make new strategic introductions; 2) previous clients that know that we are always available for our clients Monday- Sunday you could reach us; and 3) previous agents that have worked with us that no we go above and beyond on all your deals.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Ms. Esquire built an audience of thousands on Facebook in a matter of less than a year mainly because we kept it organic, organic conversations, and authentic topics, we engaged with each of our members. Attorneys began to trust the authenticity of the page and today truly the page runs it self. Once you build a culture and everyone knows what the culture is the rest is history.
