Hi Rahuldev, thanks for joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
In the travel industry, it is a de facto norm that you have to sell airlines, hotels, and tour packages in order to survive and grow. When we started Turuhi, we aimed to provide real, authentic and unbiased travel stories from people who have actually traveled themselves. From the beginning, we were clear that we wouldn’t sell or rather push anything to our readers. We will instead give them the best experience they have been craving for a long time. When a user searches on the Internet for places to visit, they are bombarded with over-hyped and often fabricated information with the intended purpose of luring them to buy. This is where many people have stopped trusting the data they can find on the Internet. Our goal at Turuhi is to change that perception and provide value to our readers. Our readers (customers) are our most valuable assets, so we know there are many ways in which we can earn money if they are satisfied.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a serial technology entrepreneur who loves to travel. I have been traveling the world for 20 years. I have traveled to 62 countries and lived in six. It has been my passion for over 10 years to write about my travel experiences. I have never written for money or to mislead or influence my readers, who number over 1 million over the last ten years. I have been offered several opportunities by travel businesses to review them on popular platforms in exchange for a free trip or stay. I have avoided that as my readers trust me and believe in what I write. Since I can travel for free, I don’t want to influence their decision by writing only good things about the travel service while ignoring its downsides.
My readership grew because people loved what I wrote. Then it occurred to me that I should turn my passion for travel and writing into a business. There are a zillion travel blogs on the Internet, but it is rare to find one that provides information that you need and is trustworthy. Hence, I founded Turuhi, a platform for unbiased, authentic, and real travel content. It is a community for travel content creators and travelers to collaborate, assist each other, and make money.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It is the most important thing for any creator that their creation should be useful to others. As long as it does, then consumers will ensure that you succeed and make money. You do not have to create something just to make money, and if you do, you will not be able to survive for long. It is a great reward when someone reads your travel blog and tells you that it has helped him plan his travel efficiently and he has ultimately enjoyed his trip due to reading your blog. It has been my pleasure to have a few thousand such readers. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing your readers happy.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to show other creators that they can make money by being honest and true to their consumers. Today, everyone wants to make money quickly and by taking shortcuts. They don’t realize that it is your responsibility to first help your consumers with your creation. There is no point in being an influencer for the wrong reasons.
