We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Raellen Boyd. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Raellen below.
Raellen , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Welcome to my floral design business! My name is Raellen (pronounced Rae-Ellen) I have always had a deep passion for crafting beautiful things. With over 15 years of experience in event design, I truly believe that every special event deserves to be nothing short of stunning. With this philosophy in mind, I was inspired to transform my hobby and love for all things floral into a thriving part-time business, where I have cultivated valuable connections with industry-leading experts and vendors. It has truly turned into the most rewarding side hustle.
I am proud to have built a team of incredibly talented and enthusiastic designers who possess the skills necessary to create the perfect ambiance for any event, allowing the clients personal style and ideas to shine through. I genuinely love what I do and am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that each event is filled with unforgettable moments.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I believe every event can be stunning, regardless of budget. I help clients achieve this by creatively utilizing my existing inventory. For example, to manage costs for 20 tables, we might design half with elegant florals and the other half with chic candle tablescapes. I also love incorporating high-end faux blooms for backdrops – it’s my secret weapon for luxury on a budget, especially since no one can tell the difference unless they touch them!”

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Twenty years ago, my sister and I ventured into the banquet hall business. While we loved curating events, the demands of small children and such a significant undertaking led us to sell the business after three years. However, my passion for event design never waned. Over the years, I continued to plan events for friends and family, finding it both rewarding and relaxing. I’ve since found my true calling in floral design, focusing on creating beautiful tablescapes rather than coordinating entire events.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Though I’m still working full-time with retirement on the horizon, my current career has been the backbone of my new entrepreneurial endeavor. I’ve strategically used bonus checks to acquire initial inventory and fuel my marketing campaigns. With the expertise gained from owning a banquet hall, I’ve transformed my garage into a dedicated design studio. This low-overhead approach means I’ll be renting vans from U-Haul and Home Depot for larger events, freeing me to focus purely on design and innovation rather than worrying about off-season costs.
