We were lucky to catch up with Radmila Dolokhanova recently and have shared our conversation below.
Radmila, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
My styling journey began in my early 20’s when I worked for a women’s contemporary clothing brand in Los Angeles. It was a start up, so I was given the opportunity to explore every facet of fashion – from dressing the models for our E-comm photo shoots to managing celebrity gifting and public relations requests. However, my personal business journey began when I gave my friend a wardrobe refresh for a new job she had accepted. We sifted through her closet, went shopping, assembled outfits for her upcoming work week, took before and after photos and the rest is history!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Radmila and I’m a fashion stylist and wardrobe consultant. Fashion is more than just a hobby for me, it’s a true passion. Being able to turn my passion into a career is incredibly rewarding, and I wish everyone could experience the same joy of pursuing what they love professionally.
I began my journey in the fashion industry during my early twenties while working at a clothing brand in Los Angeles. Because our team was small, I had the ability to work closely with the founder, which provided me with valuable mentorship opportunities. I stepped away from fashion for several years when I moved back to Minneapolis, but 3 years ago I picked right back up and haven’t stopped since!
Getting dressed in the mornings for work, packing for a vacation, or assembling an outfit for date night can be overwhelming and daunting for a lot of people. Decision fatigue takes over and we resort to wearing what’s familiar and comfortable. I want to eliminate that stress and make getting dressed fun again! I go into your closet and sift through every piece of clothing you own. We have honest conversations about each piece and make keep, donate and style piles. My strong suit (pun intended) is putting together outfits using clothes you already own while discovering gap items that could tie your wardrobe together.
Clothes convey so much of who we are! A well-styled outfit can boost your confidence which will undoubtedly foster empowered, and that is what I’m most proud of.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to inspire confidence and self-assurance which a well-styled outfit has the power to do. We often compare ourselves to others, especially in terms of appearance and these comparisons can lead to feelings of inadequacy and self doubt. Many people struggle with body image issues and perhaps aren’t dressing for their body type. Learning about what works best for your unique shape will ensure you’re comfortable in your clothing so you can confidently move through your day without feeling self-conscious.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’m still very much building my social media audience! We’re constantly being fed tips and suggestions on how to successfully push out content, but like trends, they seem to be changing quite rapidly. WHAT’S A GIRL WITH UNDER 5k FOLLOWERS TO DO!? My only advice for those starting to build social media presence is to show up as you are. Be genuine. That may sound cliche and played out, but people are hungry for authenticity, at least I am. Appreciating who you are and embracing your own uniqueness will only make a positive impact on your followers. I also think it’s special when like-minded creatives collaborate. Although it may seem social media is saturated with creators doing what you’re doing, your content will stand out and your message will penetrate the right audience! So chop chop, we want to see it.
