We were lucky to catch up with Radhika Vydianathan recently and have shared our conversation below.
Radhika, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
For all my clients I surprise them with unique gifts during the design phase of a project. And during the install day, I style the space for them with a lovely arrangement of fresh cut flowers as well.
Radhika, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am passionate about designing interiors that celebrate my clients’ individuality. I am fearless in my approach to color, texture, and pattern ; with deep appreciation of fine craftsmanship and exquisite materials. With degrees in both Finance and Interior Design, I am meticulous in my approach to budget, organization and process while imbuing the interiors with deep respect for culture, beauty, and comfort. I believe that one should fall in love with one’s home every day, over and over again.
Whether designing a new build home, remodel or furnishing their home, I oversee the design from start to finish. My proud moment is when I see the sparkle in my clients eyes and happiness in their faces on install day. It’s simply priceless. I feel proud because; I am able to celebrate their accomplishments and create a space where they can cherish new fond memories with family and friends.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Two months back, I was overseeing two bathroom remodels. One of the bathroom tiles came defective and the whole stock was defective. It was time to select not only the tile but also new paint, grout colors, etc. It’s a domino effect when one piece in the design begins to fall apart. Thanks to my awesome client and tile vendor who was understanding and supportive, I was able to not only select and get the new tiles, grout color and paint colors approved but also get it completed within the timeframe and not pause any construction work. If not, it would have stalled the project for weeks. Thankfully I have a very happy customer.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn to say yes to everyone and everything. This has allowed me to keep my creativity, passion and balance in life and be of value to my clients.
