Radha , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
My hero is my father. He is someone that I look up to and admire very much. He taught me the old school work ethic mind set and how important that is. I also believe it’s because of him that I have the drive and determination that I do. Not everyday is going to be easy and it takes a lot of hard work and grit to get where you want to go, but if you work at it and believe in yourself and what you are doing, nothing is impossible. Always show up on time and work hard. He also valued hard work and honesty. He was a very smart man and one of those people that didn’t say much but when he spoke you knew that it was important. My dad passed away a few years back, but I strive everyday to make him proud. He will always be my hero.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started and worked in the restaurant industry for a very long time and bartended for many years. One day it was a friends birthday and his favorite drink at the time was gin and tonic, I decided to combine that with my love of baking and made gin and tonic cupcakes. They were a hit, After that I tried different variations and Spiked Sweets was born. It started small with orders from friends then some of their friends ordered stuff and then I would get orders from people I didn’t know. Spiked Sweets offers all sorts of Spiked desserts from, cupcakes, pies, cakes, infused fruits and more, I can do small or big orders. I have catered baby showers, receptions and have even made a few desserts for some chefs. I now have a pop-up at the Melissa food truck park called The Nest. You can catch me out there on Saturdays with different variety of Spiked Sweets that rotate weekly.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
For me personal, I am able to sell on the weekends at the food truck park in Melissa called The Nest that some of my friends run. Being there gives me a space to reach new customers and a place where people can come and try Spiked Sweets first before possibly placing a bigger order. It’s a wonderful space where people can come out and support small businesses like myself.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that fact that Spiked Sweets is mine with my name on it definitely builds the reputation of quality products and service. I put 100% in all my orders and products that I sell. I do not want anyone to be unsatisfied with anything that they have purchased from me and I always follow up with my customers. I take pride in my work and I believe that reflects in my products.
