We recently connected with Rachelle Sylvain-Spence and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rachelle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
Well, I owe a whole lot to my parents and when I say parents, it includes my maternal grandmother as well. You see i come from a strong Haitian heritage and a line of women who define resiliences. Born in New York City and partially raised in Haiti. I experienced Haiti at its best and hardest times. I was exposed to the world’s best , however always aware of its struggles. This upbringing led me to the dynamic women I am today. Through my parents teachings and my life experiences i have learned to face challenges with an open mind , humility, grace and heart. I have learned to not give up when faced with obstacles, instead to lean heavily to my faith and trust in my abilities and God mission for me.
I’ve survived civil unrest, a plane crash and business failure. Yet, not once have I allowed myself to become a victim of my circumstances. Instead, with humility and grace I have grown and become more grounded in myself and in my purpose. My upbringing and my parents teachings has strengthen my drive. Now, years later I’m a successful motivational speaker, author of “mienergi” and a self discovery coach. I’ve mentored and taught students and women to embrace their challenges as the blueprint of their lives success, and to increase their productivity by learning to connect with their voice, stand in their truth and show up authentically.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a married mother of two who holds a Master’s degree and a license in Social Work. I was born in New York City and raised in Haiti. Unrest in Haiti at a young age had a profound impact on my life and during my teenage years I moved to New York City. This taught me that in order to succeed in life you must be willing to do what ever it takes. I worked my way through my undergraduate degree and at the age of 25 I obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work. I am now the CEO/Founder of a life strategy and Speaking company, R-Motivation LLC. Currently my company continues to motivate, inspire, uplift and impact the lives of many
I relocated to South Florida and became very active in community relations. I am a motivational speaker, life coach, mentor, entrepreneur, author, Podcast host and philanthropist. I dedicate some of my time by doing work in the south florida community. I founded the Timoun Lakay Foundation, a non for profit organization dedicated to providing support to the disadvantaged children in Haiti through nutrition, education and building leadership and empowering skills .
I am determined to Ignite professional/entrepreneurial women of caribbean decent with the tools and motivation to take action in their lives and create change. I strongly believe that the journey towards a fulfilled aligned life and extraordinary results starts with self discovery. Connecting with one’s purpose in life and energetic level will ultimately lead to the greatest results. My life’s purpose is to help individuals own their voices, stand in their truth and show up authentically.
I specialize in self discovery and I have written an inspirational guide to self discovery called “minergi” where I introduced a 7 step process to connecting with your inner rhythm and 4 stages to shifting energy. I travel internationally motivating people by speaking and facilitating workshops.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
“We are all in it together!” is the motto that has kept my team in synced. This belief propelled them to buying into the mission and vision of the practice. Understanding that we rise as one and fall as one. Such philosophy enables the team to work towards success. In turns it creates a sense of trust, safety and an openness to grow collectively as a community.
Secondly, communicating clear and effective expectations while keeping all lines and doors open to respectfully sharing opinions and actively listening.
Third, walking my talk, by showing up authentically and in full transparency honoring , respecting, celebrating and valuing each member’s as increment part of the team. While instilling the importance of celebrating all wins ( small or big).
This has helped me build and keep my team committed, inspired, motivated, empowered with high moral and integrity.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I am an avid advocate of authenticity and I am on a mission to have women own their voices, stand in their truth and show up for themselves authentically . It is my belief that one’s authenticity speaks to who they are, what they want and why it matters to them, it in turns allows for full transparency in all aspect of life.
My authenticity has set me apart in my business by establishing a culture of trust, honesty, positivity and service. They call me the master igniter! When I speak I do from a place of truth and authenticity, I light that fire within my listeners towards taking positive action in their lives to create change. That unique skill is what has helped me build my reputation within my market.
