We were lucky to catch up with Rachele Kehler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rachele, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was your school or training experience like? Share an anecdote or two that you feel illustrate important aspects or the overall nature of your schooling/training experience.
The school I went to was experiential, meaning as I was studying counselling and coaching in the morning we would practice what we just learned about with each other in class in the afternoon. It was one of the best ways to learn because you start integrating the information immediately in addition to receiving support from classmates.
This style of learning really prepared me for being with clients right off the bat! I have heard many stories of people that graduate from universities and do not know how to conduct a session or be with a client in the moment. I am so grateful to have been able to attend a school that taught us the importance of doing our own work alongside the hands-on approach. In addition, I don’t know many programs that teach coaching AND counselling- so this is a major added bonus and differentiating piece that has helped me in my business.
Rachele, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Rachele Kehler. I am a Holistic Relationship Coach, because I believe we are all in relationship to and with everything around us. My clients are growth-oriented, cycle-breaking women who are resilient, not always by choice. This resilience has brought her success in life however, these strategies are no longer working for her and they show up in her intimate relationships, her relationship with herself, and her business, and quite literally everything in this world around her. I help these women break the patterns that are no longer supporting them to get to the next level of expansion she knows she’s ready for.
She desires to have an unconditional teammate in her corner to help her feel prepared to make these changes, and that’s where I come in. Through my holistic, trauma informed approach as a former therapist, we honor her nervous system, align to her Human Design, embody her feminine expression, heal her inner child, and provide her with somatic, spiritual, and therapeutic tools to support the triggers that inevitably arise when making changes. I help her feel seen, heard, and validated in her journey of releasing what no longer serves so that she can live a life full of multi-dimensional love, ease, and joy.
————
I grew up in a small prairie town in Canada before moving to the West Coast for fashion school. Years spent in the customer service side of the fashion industry and managing diverse teams revealed a pattern— I loved helping people discover something amazing about themselves they never even knew they had within. It wasn’t until after I went through a divorce that I made the pivotal decision to return to school and pursue my true calling.
Enrolling in a program at Rhodes Wellness College renowned for its holistic client-centered approach and experiential learning, I embarked on what would become a profound and transformative journey. Along the way, I faced nearly every major life crisis imaginable– the death of loved ones, eviction, unemployment, a health crisis, and so much more.
During this time, I began to use the tools and techniques I learned throughout my training as a certified Life Coach and Registered Professional Counsellor to cultivate a raw and authentic relationship with myself, one rooted in self-love and acceptance.
When I was two years old, my life was changed. My younger sister was born with a rare, debilitating disease, and though she was not expected to live for more than a few hours, she made it to fourteen years. As a child, I abruptly transitioned from being the center of attention to becoming a caregiver for my sister and second-hand to my mother, helping with feeding tubes, changing diapers, and anticipating the worst at every corner. To avoid burdening my family, I learned to be self-sufficient, helpful, and attentive to the needs of others.
This unique and challenging upbringing imprinted on me a natural intuition and empathy. I developed a keen ability to see behind closed doors, never assuming I know what’s happening for someone else. My compassion for people’s default stress responses stems from witnessing the constant stress in my own childhood home.
I understand how these experiences can lead to craving for attention and how they can shape our sense of self-worth, because that was my story too.
My personal healing journey, combined with my formal training and work as a therapist, fueled a passion for helping others tap into their innate power and strengths, facilitating their own personal transformations and leading them back home to themselves.
I believe in uplifting women, shedding light on their gifts and inspiring them towards their goals.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to unlearn what it meant to be a “good partner.” I grew up watching my mom do pretty much everything around the house, and I assumed that I had to be the same in order to be a good wife…but in my former marriage, I kept burning out and resenting him for not helping me. I kept feeling exhausted for having to be the wife, the maid, the chef, the event planner etc… and I was fed up. It wasn’t what caused our divorce but it certainly contributed because I had no clue how to be in my feminine energy. I didn’t allow him to help me because I controlled things or “did it myself” before he could help. And truthfully I didn’t ASK him much for help either. Which in turn likely made him feel like less of a man as well. Since going through my divorce and then back to school to be a counsellor and coach, I realized what it meant to be in my feminine energy and now have an actual partnership!! We are a team and he loves to offer to help me and vice versa. This required deep healing of my wounds with the masculine as well as the feminine and I am so glad I can now help other women heal this within themselves!
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I have added Human Design to my skillset and it has been a massive game changer for my clients. Human Design provides a compass for what alignment feels and looks like for the individual. It helps my client understand their emotions, sensitivities, how they connect with others and how to best make decisions. I love that I have this skill as a part of my practice because when in doubt, I can refer back to someone’s Human Design chart, and we can both gain an understanding and acceptance that clicks so much faster than anything else!!
In addition to this piece, understanding masculine and feminine energy has been incredibly transformational for every single one of my clients. It gives them an understanding of alignment based on polarity and how they want to show up for all their relationships. Many women struggle with feeling like they need to “do it all” or keep up with a masculine world, and it is making them sick, burnt out and stressed. When women understand the power of their feminine and truly understand how strong it is- they understand how to ignite their inner fire from within! When I learned this myself, it completely changed the world around me. I felt more joy, ease and lightness.
