We recently connected with Rachel Rivera and Claire Ouchi and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel Rivera and, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
Embarking on a full-time creative journey as the WKNDRS has been a transformative adventure. Initially, sustaining solely on our craft presented challenges. It required a mix of passion, diverse projects, and client connections. Our journey evolved through consistent dedication, diversifying our portfolio, and connecting with our audience. While not instantaneous, it unfolded organically, marked by milestones.
Reflecting on our journey, accelerating the process would involve earlier strategic planning, networking, and leveraging opportunities more proactively. Yet, the journey’s been a blast and has shaped our artistic identity, intertwining passion with profession.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Before fully embracing WKNDRS, we spent a solid decade in the lifestyle fashion industry. That period was all about fabrics, textile designs, and the hustle of the runway. Our fashion background is the canvas where WKNDRS’ eclectic and arresting artistry began to take shape.
As the WKNDRS, we specialize in crafting visually-arresting aesthetics and experiences that help brands and businesses bring their unique perspectives to life. Our expertise spans a range of products and services, including custom murals, visual spaces for residential and commercial properties, hand-painted immersive environments, 3D installations, free-standing backdrops, custom fine art, painted signage, and large-scale printed applications.
We pride ourselves on solving the challenge of translating brand ethos into impactful visuals, illuminating brand stories with creativity. What sets us apart is our ability to seamlessly blend art with functionality, creating immersive experiences that resonate with diverse audiences.
Our most significant achievement is the ability to transform spaces globally, collaborating with brands to enhance their presence through our distinctive visual storytelling. We want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that WKNDRS is not just an artistic duo; we are storytellers, collaborators, and creators of transformative experiences. Our work is a testament to the power of visual storytelling, and we are passionate about bringing unique perspectives to life.
Whether it’s a commercial setting, a residential space, or a community project, WKNDRS is committed to delivering visual excellence and elevating the ordinary into the extraordinary. We invite you to explore our portfolio and join us on a journey where creativity knows no bounds.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being the WKNDRS is the freedom to do us. This means having the creative liberty to express our unique perspectives, ideas, and artistic voices without constraints. It’s about embracing the freedom to experiment, evolve, and push the boundaries of conventional artistic norms. This autonomy allows us to infuse our personal essence into every creation, making each piece a genuine reflection of who we are as artists. The joy comes from seeing our creativity come to life authentically, resonating with others and leaving a lasting impact. And it’s just fun!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building our social media audience as WKNDRS was grounded in the belief that community is vital and enjoyable. We prioritized authenticity by sharing our creative process, engaging with our audience, and fostering meaningful connections.
For those starting, focus on authenticity, share your journey, and actively engage with your audience to build a supportive creative community.
