We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachel Riley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachel below.
Alright, Rachel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
My birth plan for my first child ended up being a 180 of what I had planned and envisioned when bring my son into this world. When my son and I returned home from our hospital and NICU stay, I found myself alone with not much support. I was a single mom, and the world was in the COVID crisis, so no one came out into the community or created that village that I so desperately needed post-partum. Being a single mom is tough in more ways than one but caring for a new child while trying to recover mentally and physically from my traumatic birth, I really struggled. I started to look at life in a different lense and realizing what was really important to me and things that no longer served me. I no longer wanted to do things because it was the “norm” or stay in a career that brought me no joy or purpose because of other people’s expectations. I wanted to do what made ME happy and fulfill my purpose on this earth. This in the long run would help me be a better mother and allow me to help others that I so passionately desired in a more non-toxic preventative way of healthcare.
My son and I started going to Our Wellness Community for affordable chiropractic care with Dr. Lexi Moleski. This is where the compassionate community that I desired for came into play. The stars aligned and Dr Lexi ended up asking me to join Our Wellness Community as a collective/provider. I brought all that I learned with my own personal health journey, my non-toxic living and my compassion to help others that are searching for the community like I was. We are a non-toxic holistic village for people that are in need and want to join other compassionate providers in this holistic space that we call home.

Rachel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I opened The Canary Community to help other sensitive canaries, like myself. We are exposed to so many things in our food and environment that add up overtime and it makes us extremely sick. I understand from my personal journey how a gentle detox of your body is needed. How supporting your body with the correct nutrients and minerals is necessary to thrive. I’m passionate about ozone therapy and often tell clients it’s a diamond in the rough. The type of therapy that is safe and effective for anyone of any ages. Your body knows how to heal, just let it works it magic. Besides changing my lifestyle of what I put in, on and around my body, ozone therapy was a core tool that helped me in so many ways.
I provide a free 15min consultation for those needing more guidance on recommendations with all the services that we provide. We provide the following services:
Ozone therapy insufflation, IV ozone therapy, IV Vitamin infusions, Copper Detox Footbaths, Parasite Removal, Vitamin shots, NAD shots, and Natural nebulizer treatments.
What sets us apart from other brands is that we treat all ages, in all walks of life. We get to the root cause of what is happening in each individual’s body, help improve their immune system, and support those systems as needed.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think you have to be your true authentic self to succeed in any type of small business. I love and truly believe in the care and services we provide for people. However, I believe people keep coming back because they truly see and feel that we care about them and their overall health. In today’s world, I believe it’s hard to find people that make you feel heard and welcome, in any capacity especially medically. So that’s my mission for each and every one of my clients.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I was in my last semester of medical school, and I got extremely sick. I initially brushed it off as I was exhausted from clinical rotations, over night shifts in the hospital and just the stress of my big exam that was coming up. But when my symptoms didn’t go away, I sought medical help. I ended up having cancerous polyps in my colon. Doctors thought it was a fluke because of my young age and I wasn’t a smoker, drinker or drug user. So, they and I brushed it off and continued to live as I had before. Over the next few years, the same symptoms occurred, and the polyps continued to come back. This made me pivot into researching a lot about our food, the things we put on our body and the things we are surrounded by that we are breathing in on a day-to-day basis. I cleaned up my ingredients, stopped using anything toxic that touched my skin and stopped using toxic cleaning supplies/laundry detergents in my home. Believe it or not, the symptoms stopped, and the polyps have not retuned in 10 years. Upon my personal research, I found out a few things that made me believe why these symptoms continued to occur. I was raised a vegetarian and for protein I ate mostly “fake” meats. So vegetarian hamburgers, sausage, bacon etc. If you look at most of the imitation meats, they are just loaded with toxic chemicals. There is nothing in them that is real and not from a lab. My toxic load on my body, “my bucket”, was overflowing. This was my eye-opening moment that shifted my entire life perspective on what I had learned in medical school and what I was taught growing up. I had to help my body naturally detox and heal from the chemicals I was continuously putting in, on and around my body, I found ozone therapy and detox footbaths to be what helped me heal the most along with eating real ingredients in my food and removing toxic chemicals from my environment and body. I ended up walking the stage for my medical school graduation, but I did not go to residency, and I did not go into western medicine like I had originally planned to do. Now I’m doing exactly what I was meant to do in the holistic community and educating people on what healthy swaps they can do in their life to decrease the chemical load within their body. My bucket is now full of joy, not chemicals! ;)
