We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Michaud recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
What sort of legacy are you hoping to build?
I want to be remembered as the woman who cared deeply, who didn’t just talk about love, service, and impact but lived it. My legacy is about building people, not just businesses. I want to be known for helping others protect their peace, build wealth, and create a future they’re proud of, especially in communities that have been overlooked or underserved. Whether through life insurance, my nonprofit work, or simply being a listening ear, I want every life I touched to feel a little more secure, seen, and empowered.
What do you think people will say about you after you are gone?
I think people will say, “She always showed up. She was light. She gave without asking for anything back. She believed in people, even when they didn’t believe in themselves.” I want to be remembered as the one who gave her heart to her purpose and her people, and never stopped fighting for others to win too.
What do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope to be remembered for having a big heart, for serving others with intention, and for choosing love over ego. I hope people say, “Because of Rachel, I took my life seriously. I protected my family. I believed in myself again. I felt seen.” That’s the kind of legacy that can’t be measured in numbers, but lives forever.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Rachel Michaud, and I’m a U.S. Army Veteran, a community servant, and the founder of Life Legacy Builders, where we help families, entrepreneurs, and individuals protect their peace, build wealth, and leave a lasting impact through life insurance and retirement strategies. I’m also the CEO of Glamour Blvd., a vegan hair care line I launched in 2015, and I’m passionate about holistic wellness, beauty, and legacy-building, inside and out.
I got into the life insurance industry because I saw a gap: too many people were working hard their whole lives, but still leaving their families financially vulnerable when tragedy struck. I knew that with the right education and a compassionate, non-salesy approach, I could make a difference. I realized that life insurance isn’t just about death, it’s a powerful financial tool for the living. It can help people build tax-free retirement income, cover chronic illnesses, invest for their kids, and pass on generational wealth. That was life-changing for me, and now I get to change lives every day.
Through Life Legacy Builders, I provide:
– Life insurance with living benefits
– Indexed Universal Life (IUL) policies for tax-free wealth building
– Fixed Indexed Annuities (FIAs) for retirement rollovers and guaranteed lifetime income
– Mentorship and licensing support for aspiring agents who want to start a meaningful, six-figure career
– Educational webinars and free community workshops
– Strategic partnerships with funeral homes, salons, and local businesses to spread awareness and provide real solutions
What sets me apart is my heart. I lead with compassion, service, and strategy. I don’t just sell policies, I listen, educate, and empower. My clients never feel pressured, only supported. Everything I do is rooted in integrity and intention. I show up as my full self, pink, feminine, faith-filled, and powerful, and that energy has created a brand that’s both elegant and impactful.
I’m most proud of the lives I’ve changed, mothers who now feel at peace, entrepreneurs who finally have a retirement plan, Veterans who found purpose again, and aspiring leaders who are now building their own life insurance agencies through my mentorship.
Whether it’s through my @insuredwithrachel platform, my community events, or my monthly financial literacy column in the Sanford Herald, my mission is to educate and elevate. I want every client, follower, or future agent to know:
You don’t have to die to benefit from life insurance. You don’t have to work until you’re 70 to retire. You don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to help you protect your future, build your legacy, and live a life you love, starting now.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely. I believe success starts in the mind and I’ve made it a priority to study from the greats, not just in business, but in mindset, leadership, and emotional mastery. The books that have had the greatest impact on me are the ones that challenge how we think, how we lead, and how we connect with others.
📚 Secrets of a Millionaire Mind taught me that wealth starts with inner belief systems. It helped me reprogram my money mindset and step into abundance with confidence.
📚 Think and Grow Rich gave me structure, reminding me that desire, faith, and persistence are non-negotiables in creating generational impact.
📚 The 33 Strategies of War shifted how I view business strategy. It’s not just about competition; it’s about clarity, positioning, and mastering the psychological battlefield of entrepreneurship.
📚 The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is one I revisit often. It’s foundational for personal leadership. It taught me to be proactive, purpose-driven, and to operate with legacy in mind.
📚 How to Win Friends and Influence People sharpened my communication skills and made me a better leader. This book helped me realize that influence is rooted in empathy.
📚 Tribal Leadership taught me the power of culture, how to shift teams from survival mode to synergy and purpose. That’s crucial for someone like me, who is building an agency and mentoring leaders.
📚 Emotional Intelligence Habits reminded me that emotional mastery is a leadership superpower. It taught me how to manage pressure, conflict, and connection with more grace.
On the digital side, I love listening to leaders who pour into the mindset, faith, and discipline it takes to win:
🎥 Patrick Bet-David challenges me to think bigger and sharpen my systems as a CEO.
🎥 Myron Golden reminds me that wealth is biblical and that sales is service when done in love and alignment.
🎥 Bob Proctor helped me understand the power of paradigm shifts, how changing your self-image changes everything.
🎥 Lewis Howes brings emotional intelligence and personal growth to the forefront of business conversations in a powerful way.
All of these resources have shaped how I lead my agency, serve my community, and show up online and in person. I don’t just want to build a business, I want to build people. These books and thought leaders remind me that to do that well, I must constantly grow myself first.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Absolutely! For a long time, my dream was to become a Physician Assistant. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences Pre-Clinical and minors in Psychology and Health Services Administration. I was on track. I was passionate about healthcare. I worked in a nursing home where I found so much purpose serving and supporting elderly patients. It gave me joy to care for others and make them feel seen and loved.
But then life forced me to pause.
I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids, something many women face silently, and the options presented to me were invasive and discouraging. Despite being in the healthcare field, I felt like no one was truly listening to me or offering holistic solutions. So I decided to become my own advocate.
I dove into research. I changed my diet. I studied herbal remedies, detox protocols, emotional healing, and over time, I was able to heal myself naturally, without surgery. That journey changed everything. It awakened a new side of me. I realized I no longer wanted to work in traditional healthcare. I wanted to help people, but I wanted to do it on my own terms, in a way that honored my values, my holistic lifestyle, and my desire to empower others before they reached a crisis point.
That’s when I discovered the world of life insurance and retirement planning, and everything clicked.
Now, as a licensed life insurance broker and founder of Life Legacy Builders, I still serve people, but instead of physical health, I help them protect their financial health, their peace, and their legacy. I show families, entrepreneurs, and individuals how to build generational wealth, access living benefits, and create a future they can feel secure about.
My pivot wasn’t just a career change, it was a calling. And I’m proud to say I’ve turned my pain into purpose. Helping others navigate life’s uncertainties with confidence and clarity is the most fulfilling work I’ve ever done.
