We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachel Mcever. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachel below.
Rachel, appreciate you joining us today. What’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
I don’t pay for Leads! There are hundreds of companies whose sole purpose is to give “leads” to real estate agents, and a lot of agents pay for these leads (at a pretty hefty price tag too). Although, I respect each individual’s way of running their business, I personally won’t spend my resources paying for leads. I would much rather spend money on taking someone out to coffee or dropping off holiday treats to my past clients and friends. I would much rather spend my time going out and meeting new people or volunteering with local organizations than cold calling leads who don’t even know me. I am such a relationship person that my whole business model is based off of networking and nurturing all of the relationships in my life. I make “friends” everywhere I go and I genuinely take interest in people and their lives. I keep this quote in my car so I see it every day while I’m out, “One connection can change your life” and I truly believe that.

Rachel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I grew up in the Greater Nashville area and have raised my own family here so when I say I’m passionate about this town, I truly mean that!
After eight years in the customer service industry managing retail stores, followed by eleven years as a program analyst for the Federal Government, I decided to go to work for myself in a field I’ve always loved and been passionate about, Real Estate. I’m super passionate about sharing all that Nashville has to offer and why it’s a great place to call Home, after all we’re not just Music City anymore!
I love helping my clients with their real estate goals, whether that’s selling their current home or finding their next home, or BOTH. When family dynamics and/or lifestyles change and people need to adjust their current living space, it’s my job to guide them through what can be high stress situations so that they can truly enjoy the journey.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
In the real estate industry, your reputation is Everything! I love to have fun, but when it comes to my business, my clients and my reputation I don’t play around. I show up consistently as myself, I always dress the part (or at least make sure I have heels & a blazer in my car just in case) and I know the value of the professional services I offer. I treat all of my clients with the same care and respect, whether they’re buying a Multi-Million dollar home or they’re a First-time buyer whose budget is much lower. Making people feel important and understood is what a strive for and I think that goes a really long way in building a solid reputation.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The Full Fee Agent is a great one! From being a chaotic new agent running around with no real business model, always saying yes and dropping everything every time someone calls to go look at a house, never knowing when you will get paid to instead truly viewing yourself as a professional service provider and knowing the value of what you do and the high level of services you offer is a Game Changer! I also have to give recognition to my Coach, Lacey Newman with the Elevated Agent Collective, she has helped me completely transform the way I view my business and how I function on a daily basis.
