We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachel Maloney . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachel below.
Alright, Rachel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe to be successful it takes persistence, dedication, grit, consistency and passion for your craft. You have to love what you do, day in-day out and bumps in the road are just small hurdles to your end goal.
Rachel , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Rachel and I’m from Columbus, Ohio. I am an upcoming business owner of my home-based baked goods, Confetti Cupcakez by Rachel. I work a full-time job as a Social Worker and have recently dived into making my hobby of baking cupcakes into a small business of selling my product to customers within Ohio. My business is focused on serving a little piece of joy to customers that will make them feel like they’re a kid again when biting into my tasty, creamy and colorful cupcakes. I’ve always wanted to own my own business one day and create a product that I could share with others. I believe what sets me apart from others is the quality of my cupcakes and the customer service I provide. I’m dedicated to my product and how the customer will feel when tasting one of my cupcakes. My work ethic, drive and ambition to finish what I say I will, is a philosophy I follow every single day in my personal and professional life. I want my customers to know that they will receive the upmost respect, quality and communication when placing an order with Confetti Cupcakez by Rachel. As I continue to grow with my home-based business, I hope to meet more customers and bring a little piece of joy into their day-to-day lives with a Confetti Cupcakez!

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m currently in the process of continuing to build my audience on social media! I think utilizing social medias, marketing your brand/product and prioritizing marketing strategies is very important. The effect social media can have on improving and finding your audience is crucial, so it is a focus of mine to put effort towards this piece of my upcoming small business. If you’re just starting out like me, my advice is to keep posting! A social media presence and engagement are key to finding and keeping loyal customers.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients/customers in my opinion is engagement through social media and local community events going on within my area. This is a great way to branch out, speak with other small business owners, start a pop-up shop and collaborate to market my brand.
