We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel & Lynne Tate a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel & Lynne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
At Tate Collective, we listen to our clients, That’s what sets us apart from others in the industry. We pause and take note of their needs, vision, budget, and all of the fine details because they matter. We will never be transactional, instead we use our years of experience and finesse of human interaction and use it as fuel to take party plans and dreams and turn them into memories that last for a lifetime. Most importantly, we create a beautiful environment for all guests. We listen to unique client stories and plan events as if we were a valued guest, ensuring a welcoming, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, FUN environment for all party guests. Our clients know that they can trust us whole-heartedly with their special event because we will settle for no less than a positive, unique guest experience as the outcome.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Tate Collective is comprised of two founders – wife & wife duo Rachel & Lynne Tate. Rachel is from San Diego (Del Mar specifically) and Lynne is from Long Island, NY. We met working at a tech start up here in San Diego – Lynne was the Creative Director and Rachel was a PR & Communications Specialist. From there we knew we were a dynamite duo both personally and professionally. Lynne has an impressive 15+ year experience in graphic design, sales, and event production and Rachel is a marketing & communications professional. We both have a passion for celebration and curating beautiful environments, so we thought why not – let’s start our own event design company! We’re both creators with an obsession for fine details and coordination. At Tate Collective we take your party plans and dreams and turn them into memories that last for a lifetime.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
It’s all about networking and referrals. We’re fortunate enough to have great connections in the hospitality & event industry who have given us great referrals. After we finish working with a client, we’ve gotten other bookings from their referrals.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Leading with positivity, passion, and a whole lot of heart helps to build trust with a team of direct reports. It starts with connection: taking the time to get to know your team on both a professional and somewhat personal level fosters loyalty, and aligning based on personal experience builds respect. The most important thing is understanding strengths and opportunities of each individual on your team so you can play to their strengths which most times, leads to professional success. Creating a culture based on feedback (positive and constructive), reflection, and recognition mixed with a lot of fun along the way, is what builds a strong team with high morale and moral integrity.
