We recently connected with Rachel Laurette and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rachel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
I absolutely love being a business owner and truly believe I was meant to be an entrepreneur. Since I was young, I always knew I’d end up either running my own business or taking on a management role in a regular job. Having control, making impactful decisions, and creating something valuable has always felt like my purpose.
In previous jobs, I’d often find myself butting heads with managers. So many lacked the true leadership skills needed to inspire or guide effectively, and I couldn’t help but notice gaps in their approach. I’d see areas where things could be improved or situations where their decisions didn’t seem well thought out. That disconnect just fueled my desire to lead my own way and set a higher standard.
Being a business owner allows me to finally apply the leadership qualities I believe are essential. Now, I get to create an empire of my own, and that’s worth every late night and challenge I face.
Rachel, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an Esthetician specializing in lash extensions and brow services. My journey into this industry started with a leap of faith—taking a risk because I knew I wanted a career that let me connect with people and help them feel confident. Becoming a business owner in this field has allowed me to channel my passion for detail and artistry into every appointment.
What sets me apart is the client experience. I’ve taken everything I’ve liked (and disliked) from services I’ve received over the years and applied it to my own approach. My goal is for clients to feel comfortable, valued, and confident when they’re in my chair. I’m meticulous about creating a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere, while being efficient and focused on quality.
The thing I’m most proud of is the trust my clients place in me to bring out their best features and provide a truly personalized service. I work hard to make sure each client walks away feeling refreshed and satisfied. Whether it’s lashes that enhance their natural beauty or brows that frame their face just right, I’m here to help clients express their unique style in a way that feels natural and lasting. My brand is all about providing a top-tier, personalized experience that respects each person’s individuality.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategies for growing my clientele have been word-of-mouth referrals and a strategic Instagram presence. My focus on delivering an unforgettable client experience naturally leads to word-of-mouth growth—satisfied clients are excited to recommend me, helping new clients feel confident even before their first visit. On Instagram, I aim to balance showcasing my work with educating potential clients about lash and brow care. High-quality images and before-and-after shots highlight my attention to detail, while tips on maintenance build trust and show my expertise.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty through a combination of personalized communication, regular engagement on social media, and exceptional customer service. After each appointment, I make it a point to follow up with clients, thanking them for their visit and inviting any feedback on their experience. This personal touch shows that I value their input and care about their satisfaction, reinforcing the relationship we’ve built.
