Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachel Hazlett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rachel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

The name of my company comes from my little boxer mix and sidekick Ruby. She always goes with me everywhere and thought it would be so fitting to have her name representing my company

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a fur mama located in the beautiful Savannah Georgia. I have been all over the U.S and we decided call Savannah our home. Taking a step back, I’ve always had a love of photography since I was a little kid. I remember my dad always taking pictures everywhere we went and my grandpa with the video recorder, capturing all of our family memories and I loved that about them and wanted to do the same thing. I started out taking photos of landscapes and flowers then got into taking individual and family photos. My background is in Education where I was a teacher and nanny for many years which helped me to be comfortable around multiple families and children. My business got serious in 2020 where I am now a local Savannah photographer specializing in Family, couples, maternity, and newborn photos. I also love branding and model sessions as well where I can be a little bit more creative. I think what sets me apart from other photographers is the time I take to get to know my clients on a personal level, and not just to snap some pictures and send you on your way. Creating a rapport with each person so it makes them open up and feel comfortable around you which in return makes for some truly beautiful photos. Take the time to really listen, and take their expectations to the next level so they always remember the experience with you!
My tones are warm and moody, I love the warm glow I give to each photo that just makes you feel like you’re in that moment.
I love candid photos where you are in the moment enjoying life with your loved ones, whether it’s walking on the beach or laughing at a something silly- these are the moments life is made of and should be captured in time and cherished forever.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

I think networking within my community and maintaining that relationship with each and every client. Keeping in touch not only as a business owner, but a friend as well
