We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel Dellasala a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Rachel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
One I graduated from my local community college and started my bachelor’s degree, I realized that marketing is where my true passion lies; helping companies grow. I felt like I was at a crossroads though. I knew that I wanted to pursue this new path in my life, but there were so many questions left unanswered. How do you get started? What does it take to get hired in this field? How do you find your first job? I knew that I had a good idea and was passionate about it.
When I started my research, it felt like one of those moments of being at the right place at the right time. I ended up contacting a networking friend who was able to connect me with a marketing masterclass in NYC. It was the greatest thing I could’ve done to excel in my professional career. I had the opportunity to network with other ladies trying to jumpstart their careers too. It really helped me realize that there are so many people out there just like me.The class did more than just give me tips on how to get a job; it gave me the confidence and motivation to keep going.
Thus Digital Hound Agency was born!
What sets me apart from other is taking the simplicity of marketing and using it to drive results. I’m a big believer in not just looking at marketing as an ad campaign- it’s about building relationships with your customers and potential customers. It’s about understanding who they are, what their needs are, and how you can use those needs to make them happy.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Hi, my name is Rachel Dellasala and here’s a little bit about me. I’m a big believer that everything happens for a reason. I believe that the universe sends us signs, and that we have to be observant enough to recognize them when they come. I’ve been through a lot in my life, and I’ve always been able to look back on it and see what the lesson was. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it in the end.
I never liked doing things the traditional way, and I think that’s one of the reasons why I’ve had good and bad luck in the digital world. When I started Digital Hound Agency, I didn’t want to be another company in a crowded field- I wanted to bring something new and exciting to the market. I knew that if I could do something different, I could make a big difference. So I decided not to follow anyone else’s rules.
I believe that marketing is simple, but it has to be done in a way that’s unique for your business. With just a few simple changes, you can create an experience for your customers that will make them remember you and come back again and again. I think that’s because when you’re willing to break free from conventions and do things your own way, you can create something truly special.
A quick little shoutout to my rescue dog Penny. Penny was a huge inspiration to start doing what I love. I’m not too sure about her past but she was afraid of everything…. one can imagine what had happened. She helped me through some really tough times in my life, and she taught me to live life again.. She also taught me how important it is to give back to the community, which is why starting in January of 2023, Digital Hound Agency will be donating 10% of all profits to local shelters for dogs like Penny who are looking for their forever homes.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
While my side hustle hasn’t turned into a full time just yet, I’m still working hard to make it happen. As a startup, it’s always tough to get traction. My hope is that I can continue to connect with more people in the industry and onboard new clients. I’m truly excited to be on the verge of something great, and I feel like I’m getting closer every day. The marketing world is changing ever day. New methods, new technologies and new channels are introduced every day. What will happen next? It’s hard to predict the future and to be prepared for it, but I won’t stop trying and I am very eager to find out what’s in store next for me!
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of finding new clients for me is to keep looking until I find them. Don’t give up on your business just because it’s hard—there are people out there who are ready to buy what you have to sell.
When I started freelancing, Upwork was where I’ve had the most success in terms of finding new clients (especially being a newbie in the game) but there was definitely a learning curve. One of the pro’s from Upwork was I learned how to write a good profile and how to communicate with potential clients effectively. Once I got the hang of it, though, it can be really easy- and lucrative- to find work! It’s a nice platform to use when you’re getting started, but after a while I wanted to branch out to other methods of gaining clientele!
Fast forward to finding clients now, it can still be tough- but they are out there! It’s not easy to find clients, but it’s a lot easier than it was before. For me, I’ve noticed there’s more tools available than ever before to help me find the right client for my business. The key focus is on creating a great product or service that people want and need, then use these tools to reach out and find them.
