Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachel Dashiell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rachel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success can come in many forms. I think it is all about perspective and what kind of result you are looking for. Even if you do not have a clear end goal yet, effort and consistency is key. I truly believe good things will come if you keep working hard towards what you love!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Rachel Dashiell and am originally from New Jersey. I moved to Colorado about a year ago & now feel like I am naturally connected & surrounded by breathtaking nature. Photography has always been a passion of mine & has always been the one thing that does not feel like a chore to me. Rather, photography has always been my creative outlet. My grandfather has also been a huge influence on me when it comes to photography, as we always bonded over the endless styles of photos one can take.
After years of taking photos for fun, I started an Instagram page where I post my most of my content. For me, this was a great way to share my photos as well as see other people’s work and stay engaged.
I currently offer photoshoots & sell prints of my photos! I also have a website where people can easily browse & purchase my photos. For me, photography is all about having fun, enjoying yourself, & sharing that feeling of happiness with others.
I am most proud of just being true to myself and continuing to do something I love. It can be very easy to get lost in everyday tasks and responsibility. I don’t think there is any better feeling than following through with a promise you made to yourself, which is still making time for the little things that make you happy.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
It can be very easy to compare yourself to others and compare your style of photos to others. For a little while, I felt like if I posted a photo outside of a certain aesthetic, it wouldn’t grab the viewers attention, or wouldn’t compare to what the most popular photographers were producing. I would start to catch myself posting pictures to fit in with others rather than posting what I really wanted.
I started to realize that this was affecting my decision making & needed to take a step back and unlearn that my photos does not have to look like everyone else’s. It is about reminding yourself as to why you even started the creative journey you’re on and remaining true to yourself and your intentions.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is simply to make myself and others happy. We all need a healthy outlet to express ourselves & for me that is photography! It is inspiring in itself when people continue to follow my Instagram page & show their support. My goal is to simply have fun with what I am doing and enjoy the journey.
