We were lucky to catch up with Rachel Craig recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rachel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with something countless entrepreneurs have had to figure out on the fly – how have you dealt with the rise of remote work?
As a Reiki Master I can send Reiki remotely. Most of the people I work with enjoy the remote Reiki because they can stay in their happy place: home, bed, bathtub, backyard, you name it. Then right after they can get ready for dinner or going out. They don’t have to account for traffic or drive time. Also some of the people I work with aren’t even in Georgia. So I have Reiki recipients all over, which is great to have a wider audience.
But the pitfall is that Reiki is not well known, if you know you know. For those not familiar with Reiki the thought of it being done remotely may seem even more confusing. I get that. I feel that it’s important for first timers to start with an In-person session. That’s why two days out of the week I’m in the studio to see people. We actually just moved into a bigger suite inside StudioPlex. I rent a room from Visionary Healing Center for Wellness at 659 Auburn Ave NE in suite #141.
As much as I enjoy working from home and having remote Reiki sessions I do understand the importance of having face-to-face interactions to grow my business and to spread awareness.

Rachel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who don’t know me I’m Rachel. I am a Reiki practitioner and I completed my Reiki Master training back in July 2020 during the pandemic. Some back story, in 2018 my mother died of cancer and for the next two years I was on a journey of grief. Reiki kept popping up in conversation. I kept running into people who were Reiki practitioners and eventually I was told I should learn Reiki for myself because I am an empath and Reiki would help ground me, clear my energy from other people’s energy, and would help with the healing process with my grief.
Then I found Beacons of Change and I took a Reiki 1 class. At the time I was doing this just to help myself heal. But after the Reiki1 class, I saw the profound effect that Reiki had in my life. Yes, the grief was still there, but it wasn’t in control. I could go into big events and not be overwhelmed with everybody else’s emotions and feelings.
When I finished Reiki two I knew I had to become a Reiki master because I wanted to be able to attune people to Reiki and to share this practice. It’s so obtainable, it’s so easy.
And a reminder Reiki isn’t a religion. It’s a tool. It helps deepen any practice somebody has. Whatever faith or modality that you’re doing in your personal life, Reiki helps deepen your practice.
When I completed my Reiki Master training I was so excited to share Reiki with everyone. I was like I’m goanna have my own business. I’m goanna do this all the time. I still had my 9-to-5 job I was working out the logistics of everything but when I said it to the universe, when I said out loud, I want to have my own Reiki business, the universe was like OK Bet! Doors started opening up and opportunities and I met people I needed to connect with to make all this come to pass.
Now it’s 2023, I rent a space from Visionary Healing twice a week and the rest of the week I work remotely from home. I send Reiki to people all over the world and most importantly, the work that I do feels satisfying. I feel like I’m helping.
My goal is to help people along their journey. I have a Pay What You Can option because I know money is a thing. I want people to be able to afford a Reiki session so they can come every week if that’s what they need for their healing and where they are in their journey. If you’re ready to do the work and if you are looking to heal, then you have this option available to you that doesn’t break your bank. I want people to be able to fit Reiki into their budget and their self care practice. Your spiritual, mental, and physical health should all be attainable and I’m here to help with the spiritual part.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
For me I’ve gotten most of my new Reiki Recipients from participating in an event and by referrals from current people I’m working with.
So I need to push myself more to reach out and partner with other local businesses in the area to host more community events. Then just have a signup sheet with dates, time, and a discount offer. Once you get people in, let’s say half of those people will become regulars. And from those new regulars I’ll get some of their friends to come in.
Because word of mouth is still, I think, the most powerful promotion. People trust other people’s endorsement and reviews.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I’ve partnered with Lisa and David, who are the founders of Visionary Healing Center for Wellness. I met Lisa during my Reiki 2 class and we were partnered up to send remote Reiki to each other and it was a really powerful and memorable moment. Later she shared about her business. The way she described how she and her husband focused on cultivating a healing environment sounded so blissful.
I wanted to see first hand so I booked an acupuncture session with David, Lisa’s husband. I saw their space and felt the energy they so mindfully made and was sold! I continued to see them as a client. Over time as I shared my hopes and desires for my future and my business, they offered me access to their space when they were closed.
At this point I had already left my 9 to 5 job and was ready to grow. We struck up an agreement and it’s been two years now. They recently moved into a bigger suite and before moving they invited me to move with them. I was like Absolutely!!! Please and Thank you.
Now we’re still in StudioPlex, but we’re in a bigger suite #141. I am just so excited to see them grow and for them to bring me along. I love that we are a community and we want to see each other thrive. It’s a really beautiful partnership. I’m so grateful for them.
