We recently connected with Racheal Thiedig and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Racheal , thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us a bit about who your hero is and the influence they’ve had on you?
Definition of a hero; a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. To me, the ultimate hero is someone that makes a difference in others lives, no matter how major or minor. I see someone that shows grace, patience, and perseverance when faced with adversity. A true hero is selfless and makes certain that other’s well being is seen as paramount.
My hero’s name is Chris, and he just so happens to be my husband. Not only is he encouraging and faithfully supportive of my work, but he constantly inspires me to improve, stay positive, and to make a difference in not only myself, but others.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Portrait photography has been a hobby/passion/outlet of mine as long as I can remember. I say it all the time, but I often think back and feel extra thankful for my sisters and best friend (Sorry LeAnn, Ha!) who I somehow convinced (regularly) to be my model with whatever new camera Santa had brought that year. Even though it was an art that I loved with my whole heart, the real inspiration came after having my first child, Tatum. She brought out the “momtographer” in me and inspired me to believe in myself and feel confident. She is my muse and I owe so much to her.
If I could describe my photography style in one word, it would be happy. I create with vibrancy, color, and a little hint of magic! When my clients look at their images I want them to smile. That is ultimately my main goal and why I LOVE working with children. They bring ME joy, so I want to give it back!
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love what I do. I LOVE creating. I absolutely love the feeling I experience when a client writes me and tells my that they love their gallery, but the clients themselves that I meet along the way are everything. The relationships I make with my them are absolutely the most rewarding aspect of being an artist. I couldn’t be successful without these amazing people, and they are all SO precious to me!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social media platforms are obviously such a great way to build clientele, but in my experience word of mouth can be just as (sometimes more) powerful. People want to hear about someone’s personal experience. When shopping online, I’m fairly certain most consumers ultimately make final purchase decisions based on reviews. The in-person version of that in my opinion would be word of mouth. Giving my clients an experience that they want to positively share about is a huge goal of mine and so effective!
