Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachaun Thompson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rachaun, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
If I could go back in time I would’ve started being a creator sooner. The things that I been through in my journey as a basketball player could have been an inspiration to others if I showed my progress through the process of going from where I was to where I was able to take my career. I was at a crossroads after Covid wondering if I should continue what I was doing or go down another path. After posting an inspirational video online receiving more than 1 million views I knew it was something that I wanted to pursue further. I believe it would’ve put me ahead of the curve if I was able to start sooner. I didn’t think it was important to show things that I did on a daily basis because of how life used to be before the digital age went further and further the ability to reach people all over the world. It’s better to start late than to never start so I’m grateful I gained the confidence to show others my journey.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Rachaun Thompson I am from Columbus, Ohio. I got into my craft at a young age starting in middle school playing basketball at the local YMCA. I provide training services to youth in order for them to hone the skill and admiration for the game of basketball. I solve the problem of them needing a trainer who actually excelled in the sport that they wish to improve in. I think what sets me apart is the road i had to take to make it to the level that i did and the hands on training that my clients receive. I am most proud of making it to the professional level of basketball without the traditional way of making it. Most of the skills i learned was by my own works just studying the game and using instructional videos to help me along the way. My mission is to be able to provide a service that is cost effective so that people from all walks of life can get the training they need in order for them to have the best chance to chase their dreams. I want it to be focused around education so that all is needed fore them to get the training is to maintain good grades and behavior in school.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is to influence the next generation in a positive way. I have gained followers all over the world just from sharing my content and it serves as proof that being a creative can have an impact on people all over. Connecting with others that love doing what i do is very satisfying. It gives me motivation to continue to create and leave a legacy on who i am in the world.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Coming out of high school with no interest to play basketball at the next level to making it to play professional is a testament to my resiliency. I was never afforded a scholarship and had to walk on at three different schools to continue to chase my dreams. There were many times that i had doubts but i continued to push through so i could make my dreams come true. After all that being able to travel the world playing basketball was very rewarding knowing that i maintained a level head even after all the ups and downs of playing a sport at the next level. I was told so many times to give up but i never listened to any of it and instead i believed in myself.
