Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachael Turner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Rachael thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I were starting over, I would start working on my mindset sooner and more intensely. There is a lot I had to undo by what the world told me things had to look like in business and what it took to be successful. I have learned that as the business owner, I get to make the rules! I am responsible for the systems and service to support those rules. I’m also responsible for the quality and upholding my business reputation BUT I get to decide what all of that looks like. Also, increasing revenue does not have to be hard. It takes strategy and a plan, but it doesn’t have to mean working long hours day in day out with no help.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I realized I was made for entrepreneurship while still working in Corporate America. I did a skills assessment and choose to start an Event Planning business based on my interests and abilities. After learning how to build my own website, market my business, and being asked by others to help them with theirs, I discovered that marketing and branding made more sense for me. Both of my parents gave me things that I can contributed to the type of entrepreneur that I am: My father, who has always been into technology and once had his own business, definitely influenced me. My mother has always been extremely resourceful and creative.

During COVID, I took a leap on a product idea for another brand I created, Radiant Thorns. The Essentials Keeper is a premium, adult “trapper keeper” that is designed for daily use to help keep your organized. It stores your chargers, small devices (such as air pods), wireless mouse, and more in heavy-duty bands. It works hard, but is wrapped premium, faux croc/python material will bring luxury to your daily routine.
Not only did I source and design the Essentials Keeper, it had to be internationally shipped, then packaged and marketed. Going through this process helped me to fully grasp e-commerce and provide more insights to clients with e-commerce brands.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients has been current clients! Word of mouth has taken my business very far and I am grateful for every new referral. I do get inquires via Google searchers and social media, however 85% of clients are from someone being referred by someone who is happy with their results from Rosemint Media.
