Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael Hanible.
Hi Rachael , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a poor neighborhood in a single parent household. Where the crime was high and the hope was low because of the lack of financial literacy. In college I begin to teach myself about credit, budgeting, investing and financial planning. I created big money goals for myself. I wanted to be debt free, have a perfect credit score and have a years’ worth of income saved. I begin to share my progress and information with others on the journey. I became a personal finance coach for adults and I created my own personal finance curriculum for kids and teens. Now I can say that I am completely debt free! I have been 13 years without a car payment, 11 years without student loan debt and I just paid off my mortgage 22 years earlier than expected. I have had a perfect credit score for over a year. This is my 11th year being a personal finance coach and so far, my curriculum has been in 130 schools, universities and organizations,
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not smooth at all. Getting rid of the poverty mindset was a struggle all by itself. Then trying to convince others to let go of their poverty mindset became another challenge. When it was time to approach schools to teach money classes, I was turned down a lot in the beginning. Some of these schools never had financial literacy classes and didn’t think it was important to teach.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Missing Peace Financial Group?
I started Missing Peace Financial Group to help others find peace on the road to financial freedom. I was tired of hearing people say that financial peace is not for them or that is was so far away like after retirement or after their kids got through college etc. My goal is to identify the places people are missing peace in their finances and create a personalized plan to help them sleep a little better tonight and every night thereafter.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is serving others. Success is waking up in the morning to do the same thing I am doing in my dreams at night. Success is changing and maybe even saving lives.
