Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rachael De La Garza. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rachael, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
My journey into real estate began when I started questioning my path. Growing up, I was instilled with the conventional belief that my primary value in life revolved around being a wife and mother—a somewhat clichéd perspective. When I think back now, my parents never really discussed with me the question of what I wanted to become when I grew up.
Last year marked two significant transitions, my son graduated high school and my little girl became a teenager. Suddenly, I felt my primary role as a mother seemed to end quickly. My entire identity had become intertwined with motherhood, and I felt the need to redefine myself. Driven by a desire to build something meaningful and a personal determination to prove myself I choose to enroll in Real Estate School.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m proud to call Plano my hometown and have witnessed the transformation of Frisco from the home of The Royal Cafe and corn fields. My journey into the real estate industry is intertwined with my personal and family experiences.
Married to my high school sweetheart, we’ve been blessed with two beautiful children. Currently, my son is pursuing his education at the University of Oklahoma, while my daughter is thriving in her teenage years. Over the past decade, I’ve been actively involved in my husband’s business, Elite Stoneworks, which began in flooring and evolved into a successful remodeling company.
As I assisted my husband on various projects, I developed a profound love for the interior architecture of homes—the stories embedded in their walls and the families that grow within them. However, as my children became more independent, I found myself yearning for a new challenge and direction.
This desire led me to transition into the world of real estate. What sets me apart from others in this field is my unique approach. Unlike agents focused solely on sales and hitting numbers, my motivation is rooted in a deep appreciation for family. I aim to build something enduring for my own family while assisting others in continuing and creating their unique narratives.
Each home, to me, is a book filled with stories—children who have grown up and moved on newlyweds eager to create memories around the kitchen island, or families relocating from another state in search of a new community. I am proud to be part of these stories.
My familiarity with the surrounding suburbs is unmatched—I’ve witnessed Plano evolve into Frisco, Frisco into Prosper, and Prosper into Celina. These are my stomping grounds, I know the unique shopping spots, and where to find the best Tex-Mex, I know the best donuts in Prosper and the best Steak in Plano. My intimate knowledge of the area allows me to serve my clients with a level of expertise that goes beyond the transactional aspect. I want potential clients to know that, for me, real estate is not just a business; it’s a commitment to family and a passion for preserving and contributing to the unique stories that homes tell.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been personal referrals. I distinctly recall hearing the phrase “The best advertisement is no advertisement” while growing up and at the time, I could not grasp the meaning. However, I now understand the most effective way to expand your client base is through word of mouth. This not only serves as the highest form of compliment but also stands as a testament to my dedication and genuine care for my clients. I know these clients will return to me for years to come as their families grow and their needs change.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to perceive myself as somewhat of an introvert, a notion that might amuse those who know me well. In reality, I am outspoken and assertive, but only within the circle of those close to me. However, in Real Estate, I discovered that sitting in the back of the class is not an option—you have to lead it. This realization, well, scared me a bit. I chose the use this challenge as an opportunity to grow. I sought guidance from God, prayed often, and leaned on the wisdom of my mentor to discover my voice in a bustling crowd.
However, through this journey, I’ve come to realize that it’s not always about how loudly you speak, but rather the significance of what you say. I’ve learned the importance of saying less, speaking with conviction, and delivering genuine value. It has been a valuable lesson in finding strength in my own voice and making it count in the competitive world of real estate.
