We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachael Baptiste. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachael below.
Rachael, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I believe it was Divine Intervention. I wanted to do something in the Gospel Community in the city I lived in but Crown turned out to be a mix of a jazz pianist, a producer and a sound engineer.
After 7 long years of being an artist manager in 2020, I decided to pivot my business to exclusively project and operations for entertainment, business and research.
Sometimes you have to roll with the punches of what life gives you. Never stay in one place.
Rachael, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been singing my whole entire life and I became extremely interested in the business side of things early on when I did take my artistry seriously. As of the pandemic years, I decided to move in the direction of just doing overall project and operations management in the entertainment, business and research spaces.
I get to jump in on projects that need to be carried out from beginning to end. The idea is there.. the template is there… but you need someone to help you execute it. That’s where I come in!
With our knowledge of various industries and strength in fostering relationships, Crown will: Be a mediator at all major career-defining moments (i.e. record deal signings, product and event launches, major sponsorships, etc.), be a true partner at the table when it comes to making beneficial decisions for your career and help connect you with the best in the business, make sure all of your documents and finances are in full order, giving you the freedom to be the professional you are.
I am proud, thus far of all, the work that I have done thus far. Every project has shaped my business and me in the best ways.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most efficient way is horizontal networking. Issa Rae spoke about this. Your immediate circle of friends and others that like and support you and your work are the best way to scale initially.
Word-of-Mouth within that type of networking has helped me tremendously. Doing well on a project and getting to do another one is a fantastic feeling.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Doing your job well and it being acknowledged. It’s one thing for others to praise you for your work… but to be proud of yourself will always be fulfilling.
