Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rabbit. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Rabbit, thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I got started in the tattoo business by getting offered an apprenticeship. I had become good friends with my tattoo artist and he offered to teach me after seeing some of the artwork I was making at the time.
When I started out I was pretty stubborn as an artist. It took me some time to let go of my reservations and try to create in different ways. If I had let go and learned to be free with my creative process earlier, I would have gone farther faster.
Strengthening my hands to make them more stable and learning to slow down were more essential than I knew early on in my career.
As a tattooer, you never stop learning. Every day is an opportunity to do something better than you have before.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been a lifelong artist. I started drawing and painting as a small child and never stopped. After diving head first into an apprenticeship, I was fully committed to tattooing for life.
After 12 years of tattooing, I opened Tiger Wraith Tattoo in Albuquerque, New Mexico with my partner Danny Vanzzini. Our goal is to provide our clients with a peaceful, clean, and comfortable environment to get tattooed in. We provide custom works in all styles, made with love and care.
I don’t exclusively specialize in specific styles. I do have a strong background in fineline black and grey, bold colorful tattoos, and coverups. But I am happy to work in any style to help my clients tell their stories and decorate their skin.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think the best approach to supporting art and artists is to seek it out. Share it with your friends. Buy artwork from creatives, rather than mass produced brand name “art”.
Art tells a story and by supporting it, you become a part of that story.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, it’s all about the exchange of energy. I give my creative, physical, and mental energy to my clients with every tattoo. They, in turn, give me their physical and mental energy persevering through an often difficult and painful experience.
As tattooers we must care for everyone we work on, and show the respect that permanence demands.
