I actually started my cake business during the COVID lockdown.
It was never part of my plan to become a baker — in fact, I had never baked before! But creativity has always been a big part of who I am. I’ve loved art and design since childhood, and baking unexpectedly became my new canvas. What started as a random experiment turned into a passion that I now can’t imagine my life without.

My name is Rabbia, and I’m the founder and creative baker behind A Pinch of Sprinkles. My journey into the world of baking began during the COVID lockdown — a time when the world slowed down, but my curiosity and creativity came alive. Believe it or not, I had never baked a cake before that moment. What started as a simple experiment in my kitchen quickly turned into a passion that reshaped my life.
Like many self-taught bakers, I faced countless challenges in the beginning. With no professional background or training, my greatest teacher became YouTube. My first few cakes were far from perfect — uneven layers, cracked frosting, and all — but with every attempt, I improved a little more. I learned through trial and error, patience, and a deep love for the craft.
Over time, what began as a personal hobby evolved into A Pinch of Sprinkles — a boutique home bakery where every creation is made with love, precision, and creativity. I specialize in custom cakes, cupcakes, and desserts for weddings, birthdays, and all types of celebrations. Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Yes, my side hustle eventually blossomed into my full-time business. Baking started as a passion — creating cakes and treats for family and friends. What began as a fun hobby soon gained attention through word of mouth, and I started receiving more custom orders, from birthdays to weddings.
A turning point came when I officially launched my brand, A Pinch of Sprinkles, and began taking professional orders. Participating in local events, collaborating with other small businesses, and connecting with clients helped my business grow steadily. Each milestone — from my first large wedding cake to my first pop-up event — reinforced that this was more than just a hobby.
Today, I am grateful that my passion has transformed into a career that allows me to bring joy to others through my creations. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that something I love doing has become my full-time work and continues to grow every day.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Fostering client loyalty is at the heart of my business. I make a point to stay connected through personalized follow-ups, checking in after each order to see how the cake was received.
Social media is another key touchpoint — I share behind-the-scenes stories, new creations, and respond personally to comments and messages.
I also love rewarding returning clients with small perks like discount codes, early access to seasonal flavors, or a free cupcake with their next order. Celebrating their milestones, whether a birthday, anniversary, or special event, helps clients feel valued and remembered.
