We recently connected with Raakeebah Mann and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Raakeebah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Okeemah Henderson and Raakeebah Mann, twin sisters having strong ties to the Caribbean, had a vision of sharing and educating about Caribbean culture through fitness utilizing the rebound boots; while participating in masquerade bands at Caribbean carnivals nationwide.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have created two distinct but related programs. Karnival Bounce Crew (KBC) and SocaBounce Fitness. SocaBounce Fitness which is a program like no other utilizes the rebound boots or Kangoo Jumps boots. We offer in studio and/or outdoor high-intensity, low impact fitness classes all choreographed to the ever growing genre of Soca music. SocaBounce Fitness is a fun, interval training workout guaranteed to reshape your body and fill your soul. The rebound boots are designed to absorb up to 80 percent of the pressure off your joints (hips, knees & back) while improving balance, core strength, and promoting an increase in metabolism and endurance. It’s very similar to jumping on a trampoline. SocaBounce Fitness strives to help everyone, from beginner to pro. It promotes the best of health and wellness from participants providing a fun, island-feel environment. The second program is Karnival Bounce Crew. Karnival Bounce Crew is a group of vibrant, multicultural fitness enthusiasts using Caribbean’s soca music genre to promote health and wellness. KBC incorporates and brings to life the rhythm, music and festival feel of the islands with the utilization of rebound boots while participating in Caribbean carnivals as a masquerader, or charity events and stage shows nationwide and abroad. KBC has been requested often to partake in special stage performances with multiple celebrity Caribbean artists bringing more awareness to this fast growing genre of music.
KBC also inspires participants to join the movement in representing the Caribbean culture by taking part in the many carnival mas parades offered nationwide and by performing in various culture and community events. This fun and exciting opportunity to experience and be a part of the Caribbean culture is like no other and participants love being a part of both.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped us build is the fact that we are unique in the rebound arena doing Carribbean style and music. We use Soca music AfroBeats and Reggae whereas most others use a techno and house party style music.. Soca Music is a higher intensity beat and give people a carnival feel while taking our class. Outside of that the boots and feathers we wear with our boots in Karnival is an attraction in and of itself.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is when we showcase and are on the boots at local carnival and community events. People are intrigued when they see us on the boots and in carnival costumes with feathers.
