Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to R033y. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
R033y, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Music has been a part of my life since I was child. My family on both ends have always had music playing whether it’d be at gatherings or in the car on the way to school. My father specifically has always had the taste for multiple genres and as I grew up, he would always show me the music he listened to. At the age of 13, I found electronic dance music which caused a shift internally to want to create the same sound. It was a peak moment defining the coming years of my life.

R033y, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Following up from when I first decided to pursue music production, I instantly started looking up the DAWs on YouTube without any knowledge of anything. It was a dope feeling to face the unknown and learn something new. In turn, I try to provide an escape with my music like when you go to the movies or play video games. It also allows people I’ve never met before to relate even if our backgrounds or lifestyles don’t match up. I’d like to think that I’m a prototype, something constantly changing and adapting, a never ending concept that will someday reach it’s ideal form. What makes me proud is knowing that I have the capability to create, and to show others that they can create as well. This was something I kept working on since I was 13 and didn’t just happen out of the blue. 033 is to signify mastery and wholeness within and with others. I always do my best to collaborate and have other people’s ideas influence my work, it’s something that is absolute in the creative world and will cause changes within you and others.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is being able to express yourself in a different language. Art is a different entity in it’s own, we do not control art. We are the catalyst for said entity which takes our deepest emotions and subconscious thoughts and brings them to life. The true reward is the self-recognition and the deeper understanding of oneself

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I’d like to think that my main goal is to let others that they aren’t alone and that there are people who feel the same way. Truth is I think it’s been for me to know that I’m not alone in how I feel and that while I can feel alone in my emotions sometimes, there are others who feel just the same. So it’s really more about fulfillment.
