Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to R T. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
R, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your career and how did you resolve those issues?
As an artist, one of the most unexpected challenges I’ve encountered isn’t just about the creative process itself but about standing up for myself in the face of adversity. It’s a tough lesson that courage isn’t just about what you put on the canvas—it’s also about how you navigate the world around you.
I’ll never forget the time my dog, Leo, was unlawfully impounded by the LAPD. It was an incredibly stressful situation that left me feeling helpless, especially when I couldn’t get a response from the LA Mayor’s office. It was like battling a faceless system, and it made me realize that being an artist isn’t just about creating; it’s about defending your property, your rights, and your voice.
This experience, as tough as it was, reinforced my understanding of my role as an artist in today’s world. It’s not just about making art—it’s about being a voice for my generation, expressing resilience, and standing up when things get tough. Art can be a shield, a sword, and a beacon all at once, and sometimes the battles we fight off the canvas are just as defining as those on it.

R, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I began my journey as an actor and recording artist before fully embracing her passion for painting. What sets me apart is not only the vibrant, expressive art but also my curiosity and study of subjects beyond the canvas, like law. I continue to write scripts and perhaps one day stepping into directing. My love for creating extends to crafting unique styles for brands and iconic figures. We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I had an iconic legend who kept saying, “Let’s collab,” but never followed through. Meanwhile, other painters were out there bragging about working with ’em, and I won’t lie—I was starting to feel salty. But instead of dwelling on it, I stayed ready. When I found out they would be speaking at an expo I was curating, I knew this was my shot. I made sure my booth was on point, and when they stopped by, the reveal was perfect—we even caught it on camera and had fun moments recording a short interview. That experience taught me that timing is everything. Stay ready, keep your understanding and your moment will come.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media presence back when I was diving into acting and making music, but things really started popping off when I found my niche in painting. Now, I’ve thrown another curveball by creating content with my friend Johnny LA. I love making people laugh, so these short-form videos have been a fun way to shake things up and keep my audience on their toes.
For anyone starting out, don’t play it safe. Let your journey take its course, and don’t be afraid to break the mold until you find your groove. Authenticity is key, but don’t forget to have some fun with it—being real doesn’t mean you can’t also be a little rebellious.
