Hi Quynh, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
12 years ago I had my very first nails customer. 6 years ago I took my first lash training. 4 years ago I dreamt about my own salon. 2 years ago Summerville Nails and Lash opened its door and continued to grow bigger. I always dream about a beauty salon that customers walk in and feel like home. I dream about a place where my staff happy to work and be inspiring. I dream about being a successful female Asian business owner. Summerville Nails and Lash is my dream come true.


Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Summerville Nails and Lash is a boutique that aims to correct myths that have gone around in the beauty community for decades. “Nail salons are dirty,” “Eyelash extensions will destroy your lashes.” Being in the industry for over a decade, I was tired of hearing these complaints and wanted to change these misconceptions with my salon. Our business practices carry decades of tried and true experience, while adapting to the modern customer needs and expectations. We specialize in nail art, customized eyelash extensions, brow services, and have a wide range of spa pedicures that give customers the flexibility and freedom they want in their service. Our techs and myself included, pride ourselves in our close and trusting relationships with our long-term clients and we are happy to continue to provide quality and authentic service to the local community.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe quality over quantity. I started my salon with only me and my mom. Slowly we added more staff and now we have 7. We refused to hire the unqualified technicians become we want to make sure our customer get the best treatments from the best technicians.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Our most successful marketing strategy is simply words of mouth. We are so fortunate to meet wonderful locals who love supporting small business like us. Friends refer friends. Familes bring families. For the past two years, we served thousands of customers and are still be able to see some of the day 1 customers.
