Quizanae, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?

The week before I launched my business, I created a solid marketing plan. The idea was to have good enough marketing to speak for itself. That plan turned out to work very well. On the day of the website launch, my lashes sold out. This was a shock to me because I didn’t expect that it would happen so soon. I was then encouraged to order more lashes and launch a pre-order option. Making my first dollar from customers that were not family or friends felt terrific! In addition, it gave me the courage to add additional items to my business to sell as well.

Quizanae, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Heyyy y’all!!!!!! My name is Quizanae Cooper, and I am the CEO of Mink Mink Co Inc. I have officially been in business for a year and six months!! I got into the entrepreneurship industry due to being unhappy in my previous work setting. I was sitting at my desk and brainstorming about where I wanted my life to go. Before starting a business, I would tell myself that I did not have any talents and I wouldn’t be able to do anything. Yet, that day I decided to change the trajectory of my thought process and start thinking about what I liked. Honestly, lashes immediately came to my mind. The next thing I remembered was writing down names and selecting the best one. At that moment, I began to feel something that I hadn’t felt in a long time hope.

I started off selling ten different pairs of vegan lashes, and as time progressed I added additional items. Within the first three months, I opened a shop and quit my job where I was unhappy. During those six months of being a full-time business owner, I felt the most liberated! I made my own rules and developed a solid foundation for the business. While I decided to go back into the workforce I still dedicate my life to my business.

What sets me apart from others is my drive, work ethic, and determination. My business has developed a scholarship for students who are studying at college. The application has closed and the recipient will be selected in August. This is deeper than a business for me. My plan is to create a space that is safe and comfortable for my customers.

I am proud of so much! But giving back and offering mentorship to create future leaders is something that I will forever cherish.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

This has been the best part of owning a business! Creating and connecting with an audience that you build on social media. I built my audience by creating a marketing plan and recognizing that you don’t have to post every day. To tell you the truth it’s quality over quantity. You want to ensure that you are posting quality content. Additionally, utilize the features that each platform offers many offer options that allow you to reach a larger audience. Plus, you have to engage with your product and your audience. Building relationships to have returning customers.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I am working full-time and going to the last stages of my doctorate program. Owning and operating a business requires a significant level of commitment because it’s about self-accountability. However, I have learned that organizing and having a schedule will be a visual accountability tool. Overcoming procrastination and maintaining different responsibilities is a hurdle. Yet, prioritizing and giving yourself grace is a tool that I practice. Moreover, it sets measurable goals and provides data to administer support.
