We recently connected with Quinty Van Der Geest and have shared our conversation below.
Quinty, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project, besides my music itself, has been selling my music rights to the people who trust and see potential in my career and me as an artist. It’s something we started to build a sustainable career in music with a win-win on both ends. For fans and myself.
Wanting to go into music as a singer-songwriter, it’s something i’ve known and wanted since I can remember. It was actually my mom who said we should find a way that’s going to be beneficial on all ends. A matter of how, basically.
In 2022/2023 we traveled around the world, my family and I, which created space for inspiration and new ideas. That’s when we read the news that Justin Bieber had sold his music rights for over 200 million dollars. A lightbulb in my moms head lit up. It sparked the interest to dive deeper into what these music rights are and what kind of value it could have. As my ambitions are as big as they can get.
Fast forward, selling my music rights means that the public is open to invest in them. When they make the decision to join, they’ll profit from my income sources like streaming, radio-plays, concerts and many more. Because, music rights are paid out every single time a song is heard or played.
And in exchange, it gives me the freedom and budget to build a career in the thing that we love and share…music.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi there! it’s good to see you here. My name is Quinty van der Geest, currently 22 years old as I’m writing this. I’m a singer, songwriter, hopeless romantic, foodlover and traveler. Born and raised in a small town somewhere in The Netherlands, but always with an urge for something bigger. Is that a cliché? maybe. But it is the truth.
Ever since I was a little girl, there was only one thing I wanted: perform and sing my heart out on a stage. My passion lies within making people smile and feel with the show I’ve prepared or the songs I’ve written. And that has not changed.
And now i’m working fulltime on building a career in music, because when you know what you want…there should never be a plan B.
My music is within the country/pop genre and I write about personal experiences that become universal. It starts with myself, but the beauty lies within the recognition of others. Relating to a similar feeling or situation.
The freedom and budget to build my career is possible because I am selling my music rights in an early stage. This way, people have access to be a part of this musical journey. It’s a chance to profit from trusting the process and seeing someone’s potential early on.
It’s about building a strong and sustainable community based off of those faithful values. A way of directly rewarding the people who have been there since the beginning and want to be a part of it.
And so far it has led to progressive growth over the last year. Where I had 700 monthly listeners on Spotify in October 2023, I now have over 40k. We are able to to make more music, you can hear my music weekly on the national radio here in The Netherlands, bookings for shows are building up and people start to recognize me on the street.
We’re building from the ground up and it really is just the beginning.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Most definitely. The main goal with choosing this path in life, going into music, wanting what a lot of others want too, it was the challenge to find a way that would make me different from everybody else. But also something that will benefit me, the fans and the overall sustainability of a career in this field.
It was the pioneering mind of my mother who offered to help me in this journey, for which i will be eternally grateful. She came up with the idea to have fans, people invest in my music. To build that community based on positive energy and have those people be rewarded for their support. That’s where it starts, earning that support from the public or a certain target audience.
The main goal is to nurture them, take them along on this journey and take over the world together.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
This is something non-creatives have told me actually. it’s the power to feel something to the fullest, to be in a certain state of imagination that brings out the best stories to write songs about. For example, I vividly know where and when I wrote which songs. What happened that day or what I was doing.
When I wrote my first song ever, titled ‘Rise Up’, it was during a late summer evening. The sun was going down as I was sitting in my bedroom. There was a feeling of typical teenage insecurity. Wanting to feel empowered, I looked outside and the first sentence of the chorus came up in my head. “It’s already dark outside, but the sun is still shining in your eyes.” The rest is history.
Just to give an idea of what that might look like and honestly it is hard to explain sometimes as it isn’t something that you force your mind to.
