Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quinton Thomason. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Quinton, appreciate you joining us today. Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?
The most innovating thing I have done with my career was mixing the photography and barbering together offering my client a professional head shot of there cut. The haircut already adds confidence and makes a person think and feel higher of themselves, adding a professional photo takes that confidence boost and multiples it giving a client a high def look at themselves in a artistic form something most haven’t seen before something they will be proud to show off and post all over the web etc.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am Quinton Thomason better known as Maestro, the man with the blessed hands owner of maestro.vision and MaestroCutz. I got into the business I’m in being a person that always loved to help people and make there day better while giving them confidence I wanted to express my creative mind and offer something to people that will either last a lifetime and or give the person a glimpse into they fantasy in real form. My profession also allows me to give back to the community around me at any given time in the matter or 30 mins I can change someone’s whole week around. That’s my whole motto is to give happiness.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That money makes you happy. I had to unlearn this motto once I felt that my passion had turned into a job the point at which money flowing into my pockets was less appealing to me then making someone’s day or helping out someone in need. The money will come yes it’s needed to survive but it will not bring joy in your life it will not bring peace these things come when the spirit is pleased with the work you’re doing in the physical the good energy radiating off you pouring into someone else then being returned through a smile or a uplift in the next persons energy field.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Covid was a time where everything could have fell apart. Starting from the lock down the government has shut down the city and businesses including barbershops this put a huge burden on my because as we all know if no hair is getting cut then no money is being made. Luckily I had a nest stashed up with just enough money to pay bills and hold me over until everything opened back up. But instead of giving up on my dream I used this time to revamp my business I started doing free cuts, giving over the phone lessons on selfcuts, redid my website and devised a business plan for when we open back up in order to rebuild my clientele currently all these things are in effect and my clientele is slowly but surely getting back to where it was
