We recently connected with Quincy Jackson and have shared our conversation below.
Quincy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I wanted to be an artist around the age of 15. I wanted to go to the NBA but music was something I loved more. The history, the wide variety, and the fact I can bring my own creativity. I remember only having a radio an listening to east coast rappers, after that the rest was history.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born and raised in Arizona, which makes it kind of difficult to get into the industry. I was blessed with the connections I have within my family so it kind of gave me a head start. Being a rapper isn’t an easy job it takes a lot of dedication and discipline. I like to make music that all people can relate to, not just people in the streets. I bring a different variety of sounds I’m not an artist that can be put into one category. That’s what sets me apart from others, many follow the same wave which is something I pay close attention to. I’m proud of how quick I soak up information because it helps me get my music out fast and efficiently, I’m sort of like a sponge.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I want to give back to the community and show people that anyone can make it big. There’s people out here that were in worse situations than myself, so I want to motivate those who feel like giving up.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I feel more people in the community need to come together and support artists that are talented enough to make it. There’s so many out here but I feel voices aren’t being heard enough. I think all cities should come together, Arizona has so much to offer but I feel there needs to be more supporters. Fans are good to have, but supporters are best for the long run.
