We were lucky to catch up with Quincy Eckenrode recently and have shared our conversation below.
Quincy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I worked as a florist at a retail flower shop throughout high school and some of my adult years. After I went to college and started getting into the medical field I felt that is was my time to leave the retail flower shop, I still wanted to help them out and keep doing arrangements here and there, but it just didn’t end up working out that way. At the time it was disappointing but I am now very grateful because it brought me to creating my own business, Q’s Bloom Room where I can use my own creative mind and not have to follow regulations of a corporate business. I have had many ups and downs throughout this experience, it can be a struggle being a one women show but every time I succeed it gives me more and more motivation to what I can do. I have a great support system starting with my parents who have helped me in any way that is possible by giving me new ideas, going on delivery runs for me, staying at their house for customers to pick up their orders, completely taking over their garage and turning it into a flower shop at the time I was living there, and just always giving me the motivation to keep going. My best friend who gave me a huge opportunity to do her wedding flowers when I was just about a year in and my FIRST wedding as Q’s Bloom Room because of the faith she had in me. My boyfriend who has used his business skills to help me with new ideas, efficient ways to keep my finances in line, also going on delivery runs for me when I have been at my fulltime job, helping set up for my weddings, being my personal photographer for my social media pages and portfolio, and now taking over our garage for my flower shop. All these important people in my life are the main reason I feel and know I can succeed, along with my great customers who send me such great reviews, feedback, and refer me to their families and friends. My business has opened my eyes in so many ways and I could never be grateful enough for this path.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Quincy I have been in the floral industry since 2018 working in a retail flower shop for 4 years and then starting my own floral business Q’s Bloom Room in the spring of 2022. I provide many floral services such as weddings, funerals, holidays, special occasions, and everyday occasions. I love being able to bring my customers visions to life and putting my own style on each arrangement. I am most proud of how far I have come in just 2 years of being on my own with no business background and how much I am growing by just word of mouth. I want future customers to know that I take everything they want and envision come to life, they can change their minds hundreds of times with me and I will always be on their side just create exactly what they want. The reactions I see on their faces when they receive their flowers is priceless to me and is why I keep pushing myself.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is the reactions I see from my customers and the comments I receive from everyone weather its on my social media posts, or personal texts and emails I receive.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I keep in touch with my clients by the normal text, email, and phone calls but the best is being able to meet with them in person to really connect. By meeting with them I am able to get a feel for what they are truly envisioning through their reactions of different ideas and pictures I show them, rather than just through texts and emails where you can’t fully grasps their true feelings. I also believe connecting with them in person and throughout the whole process gains trust and loyalty where they know I have their backs and we are in this together.
