We recently connected with Quettie Da Don and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Quettie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I believe the most meaningful project is always the project that you’re currently working on. Because one day you feel this way, and the next day you will feel another. What you wanted out of life five years ago can be completely different than what you want now. The way you felt about something or somebody just a couple months ago can be completely opposite of how you feel today. So each project is meaningful and unique in its own way. For example, my first project back in 2018 was titled “Quettie The Bachelor”, I was only 21 years old and I thought it was my best work of art at the time. It still serves some purpose to me because it was my very first project but to be honest, nowadays I don’t even listen to it anymore because I’m not in that same place or mental state in my life right now. I can’t relate to it anymore. My main focus right now is to grow and get to that next level, uplift myself and everyone in my circle, achieve financial freedom and create generational wealth, build a legacy that would last for generations to come. So this next upcoming project that I’m currently working on is the most meaningful to me. And it will be titled “ELEVATE!”

Quettie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always been a music connoisseur since I was little, listening to all different genres of music, playing the violin at a young age, etc. But what really made me turn into an artist and create my own music was the influence from my brother. He started making music and built an in home studio when we were in high school, so I was just always around it. A playful hobby eventually turned into a passion, so then I started taking it seriously. I got in touch with the right people and they helped me understand the business side of the music industry. They taught me how to build my brand and helped me become a well rounded independent artist. They gave me the ball then I just took it ran with it.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is actually seeing the final product of all the creative work from everyone involved. I enjoy going to the studio starting everything from scratch, from the beat to the chorus, to the verses, to the adlibs and background vocals, then seeing it all come together at the end for one song, and then from there creating a treatment and shooting a visual to the song is just amazing to me. Like all of this was just a thought in my brain that I wanted to express and I made it into reality with the help of a few people.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Networking, and building relationships for sure. My team and I were hitting the road every week to a different city networking and just pushing the brand. Even if it meant we had to come out pocket to get on shows or get a couple blog promotions, we were doing it. Your network can help uplift your net worth. Remember sometimes it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
