Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quentin Mustafaa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Quentin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As a content creator, creating a safe space for others and feeling a sense of belonging and motivation to accomplish whatever it is they feel they cannot do is my mission. As someone who has a variety of different interests and grew up feeling anxious about sharing those with others, I want to build a sheltered community for people to have that ability to experience that comfortability in their own skin, something that took me so long to figure out. Carving out that space for people to feel secure enough build a friendly connection with others over shared interests, uplifting one another, and valuing the mental health of every one will always be the goal.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been an avid gamer for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by casual gamers who didn’t really care for it as much, but as a kid, you are enamored by the world building or additive mechanics that these games present. As I got older, my love for video games began to grow and YouTube was becoming a popular source for gamers to become creators. That is when I started watching creators, such as Chris Smoove and UberHaxorNova. Amongst the abundance of creators I watched, it was these two specific creators that inevitably inspired me to venture down this path. It did take a while for me to get started however, as I dealt with the anxiety of putting myself out there, with fear of negativity or judgement. Until one day, I got the motivation, hit the record button and, since then, I have been consistently uploading every day, 2-3 videos a day for 1+ year! Over this past year, I have seen growth on, not only, my channel, but also myself that I really could not fathom before jumping into it, slowly cultivating the community that I aim to build. I am immensely proud of the small environment I have created for my subscribers to be able to take in the things that they enjoy and also feel comfortable enough to give feedback, share ways that I can improve in a positive manner, and inspire them to be able to create, just as the YouTubers I watched did for me. I, for one, am excited for what the future holds, as we continue to grow this little section of the internet!

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
I am no expert by any means, but something I have, not only, slowly learned on my own, but also something that was told to me, is to not look at the metrics of your content. That may seem a little strange, as the entire purpose of creating content is for the numbers of viewership, watch time, and subscribers/followers but those numbers will not be what you want it to be at the start, which can be disheartening. This is why, for me, I just focus on the feedback! Feedback from your audience is what will guide you from what is right and wrong for you! Everyone’s path is different, as is the audience, so you have to make sure you take in all the critiques, whether positive or negative, to find the best route to your success. When you go into the field of content creation, you have to realize that there are ebbs and flows, it won’t always be sunshine and rainbows, there will be times when the waters feel muddied and it seems like nothing sticks. If you stay consistent with your content creation, you will see your hard work pay off in the feedback that you get!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect, for me, has to be the feedback from my audience. I have made my subscribers aware that I am very open to receiving feedback to help their viewing experience and I try to better it, if I have the means to. There is also no better feeling for me when I upload a video and someone tells me that I inspired them. Whether that be something like copying my long-running Michael Beasley NBA 2K series, purchasing a game like WWE 2K24 because they see how much fun I have with it, or sharing a story of how a game like Kingdom Hearts affected their life. Knowing that I what I do can impact someone’s life, in some way, has to be cream of the crop.
