Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quenjana Adams. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Quenjana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success in business comes down to smart decision-making and sticking to your choices, even when they’re unconventional. At 2048 Non-Alc Wine Shop, this meant starting with a clear understanding of our capabilities and resources. I chose to operate weekends-only initially, then adapted to Chicago’s rhythms—shifting between events-only programming and expanded summer hours based on customer demand.
Being smart isn’t about knowing everything—it’s about recognizing gaps and taking action. These strategic pivots, though challenging, have defined our success. It’s about consistently choosing the intelligent path forward, even when it isn’t the easiest one.
Quenjana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As Chicago’s first dedicated non-alcoholic wine shop, 2048 evolved from pop-ups to our permanent home on Chicago Avenue with one clear mission: exceptional zero-proof wines (0-.5% alcohol) for everyone. Through careful curation and countless tastings, we’ve created more than a shop—we’ve built a cultural hub where people explore, learn, and connect.
Whether you’re sober, sober-curious, or simply exploring alternatives, you’re part of a movement shaping the future of wine culture. As we’ve said from day one: We’re Here. For All the Reasons You’re Alcohol-Free.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
2048 has grown through 99% self-funding—powered by personal investment and sales revenue, with occasional micro-investments under $1,000. Building this business while working full-time taught me to be strategic with every dollar.
Our weekend hours, wine-only focus, and event-driven model weren’t just business decisions—they were smart adaptations born from limited resources. These constraints actually shaped 2048 into something stronger. Being self-funded means every decision must be strategic, every pivot must work. It’s challenging, but it’s ensured we grow authentically and sustainably.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Mel Robbins’ “Let Them” philosophy transformed how I approach both business and life. Building 2048 Non-Alc Wine Shop, I used to get caught up worrying about others’ opinions and questioning my decisions. Learning to “Let Them” do their thing while I focus on my path has been game-changing. It’s taught me to trust my understanding of my market and vision, reminding me daily that success comes from staying true to your values, not from comparison or fear.
