We recently connected with Queenie La’Rouge and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Queenie , thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?

I’m highly misunderstood as an artist /creative.

Queenie , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Queenie La’Rouge. I’m a writer from the Chicago IL. I have been writing since 16. My goal is to write for films one day, and have my own writing company. I was inspired to write when I injured my shoulder in 2010, and my dreams as a boxer were over at that point. I had to find something else that I loved, and all my life I knew I never wanted to be anything out of the ordinary. I always wanted to do things out of the box. When my teacher said I should be a teacher I said no lol…..I wanted to be a astronaut etc. I currently get paid to wrote for artist as well as businesses that need jingles etc. What sets me apart is my love for all sounds…….Being introduced to different types of music has helped in pushing my creativity when it comes to writing, and making music. I’m able to adapt and do whatever is asked at any given moment. I’m just here to create and bring a fresh new vibe to music. I currently work with all budgets and love meeting new artist , and helping them on their journey. I didnt have much help in my career, so I guess this is my way to help others so they don’t have the issues I did.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?

Allow artist to be themselves, allow them to create and explore sounds. Labels tend to take all creative rights from artist and forcing an image on to them. Allow people the chance to show the world who they’re creatively.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

People come and go……let go when necessary. Not every one is meant to continue this journey called life with you. I use to believe that everyone had my best interest, but found out there are those that use you to get to where they need to, and then show who they really are ….Always stay focused, and remember that this is a business and not personal. I have to unlearn that not everyone in this business is your friend, and your idols may become rivals one day. Stay focused
