We recently connected with Queen Royal and have shared our conversation below.
Queen, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
During my sophomore year of high school in 2014, I began painting clothes for myself, friends, and family. I continued this hobby throughout college as I transferred my talents to canvas and wood products for purchase; thus the business Royal Creations was born. In 2017, I advertised and sold paintings through my instagram page while pursuing a degree in Sports Broadcasting from Texas Christian University. Because my curriculum was focused on elements of digital media, I collected various pieces of equipment for personal use. Upon graduation in Spring of 2021, I utilized my tools to complete my first booked photoshoot for the newest members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Thanks to my membership with AKA, I was able to network and build clientele in the DFW area.
Once I moved to Houston, TX in 2022, I had to reevaluate my future endeavors. After a lot of praying and discussions with close family members, I was eager to rebrand Royal Creations and take it more seriously. I created new logos, shifted the focus of the instagram page, and began working with a manufacturer on merchandise. I am now enrolled in Graduate School at Texas Southern University and started a new journey of networking. Since the beginning, I’ve enjoyed connecting with others through creative outlets. So as I learn from professors and shadow photographers, I sharpen my tools for success. Royal Creations is more than a brand, it’s an elevated experience for everyone everywhere.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Queen Royal and I grew up on the Northside of Houston, TX. I was a student in the magnet program in Aldine ISD. I studied arts such as acting and dancing at a very young age. By high school, I became a year-round athlete playing basketball. When choosing the perfect major to study in college, I decided Sports Broadcasting would be the best way to combine my passions. Studying at TCU allowed me to get hands-on experience in the industry as I worked remote broadcasts. The knowledge gained from earning my degree has boosted my abilities to craft products for Royal Creations. From painting to videography for sports and photos for all celebrations, I am most proud of staying true to my creative roots no matter the form.
Royal Creations is your home for content creations! Do you need someone to design your invitations, take your graduation photos, or film your wedding? Well we’ve got you covered. Royal Creations offers photography and videography packages for all occasions. Each session comes with a consultation, production day, and final product distribution. Also, our clients are treated with high regard and professionalism. We strive to make every moment enjoyable, memorable and meaningful.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is the timelessness of the products I create. My art has the potential to connect with audiences of all generations. That moment in time that I captured will forever hold a special place in the heart of my client. In addition to this, I enjoy the process of creating and connecting. My creations have the ability to inspire, entertain, or provoke thoughts in others. Knowing that I can positively impact someone’s life through what I create is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal as a creative is to be the owner of my own production studio. I plan to use my educational studies to become an instructor of audio and video productions. Not only will I teach youth in a school setting, but I will also offer online classes for adults as well. As I acquire funds from my occupation, I will save up to purchase the first location for my studio. The studio will contain computer labs, equipment, and various workrooms to generate content. The focus of my studio is networking, therefore we would host seasonal mixers to gather creatives of similar interests. My life’s mission is to be a positive influence to others. If I can do that through my creative ideas, I know I’m living this life right.
