We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Queen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Queen , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I always knew that I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally. When I was a kid I was always really good at all things art . I never had to try to be good at anything concerning art it always just came natural to me. I also always loved all things art . When I was a kid I wanted to be an actress when I grew up . I was actually accepted into a college for art to major in theater on a scholarship but instead I went to another college and became a Mass Communications major where my focus was radio and television. I loved my major but later I decided that I really wanted to be an entrepreneur but I wanted my entrepreneurship journey to revolve around art so I became a Youtuber/ Content Creator.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started my YouTube Channel “According To Queen “ during the shutdown 2 years ago. I was bartending and so all the bars and clubs were shut down so I decided to chase my real dreams and also be productive with my time since the world was practically at a stand still. It was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made . I started my channel to give people advice and tips on different lifestyle topics , travel, and reviews. I would say the thing I’m most proud of is that I actually started the channel and chased my dreams and I’ve been consistent ever since. It gets hard sometimes but no matter what I keep going . I was able to become a YouTube partner is 6 months and in that same month I landed my first brand deal. I look forward to seeing where this journey will take me and I look forward to continuing to make content that encourages other people to go out and chase their dreams and also providing my viewers with more helpful information on different lifestyle topics.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my opinion I feel like the best thing society can do to support artists and creatives is to just allow them to truly be creative. As a creative I just notice that when you’re a creative the audience on social media platforms want to see the same things and if it’s different from what everyone else is doing they won’t support . Being an artist and creative you should be able to be free to create and display your creativity in your own unique way .

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Honestly I would have to say consistency is how I built my audience. I literally would post 4 times a week on YouTube for 6 months straight to reach my goals. I still have a lot of work to do and I have a lot more goals that I want to reach. My advice to anyone is to just stay consistent even when you don’t feel like it. It’s definitely a lot of work but as long as you stay consistent you’ll get the results that you want.
