We were lucky to catch up with Quantavious Worship recently and have shared our conversation below.
Quantavious, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
nd of Memphis, Tn. My clients come for my surreal exaggerated style/brand known as Toonkified.I wear many creative hats, I do murals, illustration, design a more. I also sell merch for my brand prints, stickers, shirts and more.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The ability to express yourself and create something from nothing. Being able to bring a client vision to life. There’s literally no rules, you get to create whatever you want.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
The creative journey isn’t an easy one. As a full time artist, it seems like its all sunshine and rainbows. It has a lot of perks but people dont talk about the downsides of those perks. The biggest perk is we get to make our own hours and not clock in a 9 to 5. The cons, is we get to make our own hours, you have to be persistent, Also we don’t have a steady income unlike a 9 to 5 you get a weekly or bi-weekly check. We have to rely on our invoices for our next pay check. We have to have multiple streams of income to feel some financial stability. For the artist that still have a 9-5, It helps that your getting the consistent checks but its hard to have the energy to come home and create. Artist have to be resilient thats why im so proud of my fellow artist thats still out here grinding and sticking to the arts.
