We were lucky to catch up with Quani Bates recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Quani, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later

If I had a Time Machine, I would have an immense amount of wisdom to gift my younger self. Many agree that hindsight is often 20/20, and this was surely the case for me.

I would tell my younger self, start where you stand! In other words, begin with what you have. I think people often hesitate to break the norm due to funding. However, misunderstand the creative ways to start a business.

Now, when I look back on things I always wish that I had started this journey sooner.

There is so much good to gain and growth to occur when you reject fear and embrace trusting yourself!

If I were able to start Rayzo Vending LLC sooner, I am confidant that my life would be much more secure and progressive.

The beauty of being a business owner is the ability to reach uncapped potentials. Hiring myself was the best decision I ever made, as it has allowed me to create generational wealth and financial literacy for my family.

My number one goal from the beginning.

Quani, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Okay. Well as you have learned, my name is Quani Bates. I am the founder of Rayzo Vending LLC. We were founded in 2019 with a goal to teach my daughter entrepreneurship and financial literacy while being the start to generational wealth in our family.

Growing up, no one spoke to me about finances. It wasn’t until I was 30 years old that I began to do the work to research financial literacy topics such as credit, money market accounts, 401k retirement funds, index universal life insurance, and multiple passive income streams.

Starting Rayzo Vending LLC truly has helped me create generational wealth for my family. I also thought I would have to find the perfect day job, earn six figures a year, and save until I was 50+ years old before I could truly live financially free.

Ultimately, that was the wrong mindset to have. I learned very quickly that as a business owner I could expedite my journey to financial freedom and accomplish the desires I’ve always had while being my own boss!

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

I began my journey with Vending Machines back in 2019 with an investment of $350. At the time, I was a single mother with an 8-month daughter. Life had definitely given a new meaning for me, as I instantly set a goal to be the start of generational wealth and financial literacy in my family.

I binged watched hours of YouTube videos researching ‘passive income ideas’. I was looking for a way to earn money for my family without taking time away from bonding with my daughter.

Eventually I decided on Vending Machines, as they allowed me to earn income and be a full-time mother. I remember when we obtained our first location, it was a light bulb moment for sure. “This is it! Why didn’t I do this sooner?”

Rayzo Vending LLC was officially formed in 2020 and quickly began to gain speed from an idea to a small business.

By our one year anniversary, we had grown to 21 total vending machine and candy machine locations. This was all done on our own. Just a single – mother and a child.

We have been able to grow our presence on social media, help thousands of others begin vending machine businesses with their families, mentor students, as well as continue to service our Vending Machine route.

Our mentorship services are now available to members of our Facebook Group, ‘Vending Machines for Beginners’. This group was created with a goal to inspire parents to pursue passive income through vending!

We felt motivated to start this group so that we could give back and share the strategies we learned to achieve generational wealth and financial freedom!

We host weekly live lessons, free to our group members where we personally share tips, real life stories, and insider knowledge about vending machines and how to find success with a vending machine business.

Our mentorship program was designed to help the working 9-5 individual create an additional stream of income with vending machines. All while saving them the time, stress, and expense of starting a new vending machine business alone.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

When I first had the idea to start a vending machine business with my daughter, I had no money. I was a single mother, living at my paternal grandmother’s house (my daughter’s great-grandmother) with only $107 in my checking account and a credit score in the low 600s. I had no job (we were in the middle of a pandemic) and I was also experiencing postpartum depression.

I felt like a complete failure! There were many nights I would cry to myself, wondering how did I get to this place in my life. After all, I was a college graduate who always did my best to “do the right things” and “be mindful about my choices and decisions”. However there I was, in my 30s with nothing.

I looked at my daughter and knew I had to do something to improve our lives. I knew living with grandma was not the recipe for success that I had in mind for us.

I asked my little brother (my daughter’s Godfather) for $350 to purchase a candy machine route of 3 candy machines located inside of 3 separate businesses in our community. My little brother gave my daughter and I the money with no hesitation. I still get emotional today when I think about how supportive my little brother was of me and my daughter when we had absolutely nothing.

The thing is, I asked other family members to help us start our vending machine business and they all said no. However, my little brother had our backs, and the rest is HERstory!
