We were lucky to catch up with Quang Tran recently and have shared our conversation below.

Quang, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?

The kindest thing anyone’s ever done for me came from my wife—long before she was my wife. When I was just starting as a photographer, my career was far from stable. I had a lot of ambition but not much else. She believed in me anyway.

Her kindness wasn’t just in emotional support—she rolled up her sleeves and became part of my journey. With her incredible eye for design, she helped me create setups that wowed clients and guided couples to pick outfits that brought their vision to life. And while doing all that, she was building her own business and providing for us.

This unwavering belief in me shaped how I approach my work today. Every time I capture a love story, I’m reminded of the one I’m living—one built on support, trust, and generosity. That’s the kind of story I aim to deliver for my clients.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hi, I’m Quang Tran, founder of 9193 Studio. I’m a wedding photographer, but to me, it’s more than just capturing moments. It’s about telling your story in a way that feels timeless and true to who you are.

At 9193 Studio, we specialize in luxury and fine art photography, but we’re here for every milestone. From your engagement to your first family portraits, we capture life’s most meaningful moments with care and creativity.

What sets us apart? It’s the experience. I take the time to understand your vision—what you want and what you don’t—and make sure you feel completely at ease in front of the camera. My background in graphic design gives me an edge in bringing out the beauty in every detail, ensuring your photos are as unique as your story.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My reputation has been built on trust and consistency. I believe every couple and family deserves to feel seen, not just photographed. From the first conversation to the final delivery, I make sure clients feel valued and heard.

This approach has led to something I’m incredibly proud of—word-of-mouth referrals. One bride refers her best friend, who refers her sister, who refers her coworker. It’s not just about delivering great photos; it’s about creating an experience so memorable that clients want to share it with others.

What keeps people coming back is my commitment to quality. Whether it’s a wedding, a family shoot, or even commercial work, every project gets the same attention to detail and care. That’s what sets 9193 Studio apart.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I started, I was laser-focused on weddings and family photos—capturing emotions, connections, and love stories. Then, out of the blue, a client asked me to photograph a house they were selling. I was ready to say no—it wasn’t my thing, and I wasn’t sure I’d do a good job.

My wife stepped in and said, “Why not? They trust you, it’s a chance to grow, and let’s be honest—it pays the bills!” Her words stuck, and I decided to give it a shot.

The results surprised me. The client joked, “What if buyers show up and the house doesn’t look as good as your photos?” That’s when I realized I could bring value beyond what I’d imagined.

Now, I’ve added commercial photography to my portfolio, covering housing, food, and other products. It’s different from weddings, but in some ways, it’s easier—products don’t blink or get camera-shy! Expanding into commercial work has been a rewarding way to tell new kinds of stories while staying true to my focus on quality and creativity.
